Ayla Ellison (Twitter) - 2 hours ago

Police say a 94-year-old man shot and killed his wife May 22 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters (Mo.) Hospital, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Police said the man turned the gun on himself after shooting his wife, who had been in the hospital for an illness for several days, according to KSDK. The man, whose name has not been released, survived the shooting with "significant injuries," according to police. The man has not been arrested or formally charged, according to KMOV.

True but a shooting is a bit extreme. It does beg the question on the hospital security system allowing a loaded firearm into patient areas

When you ban medical procedures that people want access to, they will often find a way get it done anyway with sometimes horrific results.

A murder/suicide will absolutely effect their children and grandchildren.

Probably went broke from being in the home and couldn't afford the hospital bills.

More proof that a 30,000 day waiting period isn't enough.

But yeah, self-euthanasia should be allowed. I don't know if we've had people doing it yet in Colorado, but it's a good idea for someone in this (likely) situation.

Sorta seems like giving up at the finish line. But there's likely a lot more to the story...
