Police say a 94-year-old man shot and killed his wife May 22 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters (Mo.) Hospital, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Police said the man turned the gun on himself after shooting his wife, who had been in the hospital for an illness for several days, according to KSDK. The man, whose name has not been released, survived the shooting with "significant injuries," according to police. The man has not been arrested or formally charged, according to KMOV.

According to Post-Dispatch he was 94 and she was 93. They lived at a St Charles retirement community. Dude simply couldn’t take any more, for whatever reason.
It was announced today he has also perished from the shootings. [Reply]

There are calmer methods, sure, but probably nothing as quick nor as effective. They were in a hospital, so chances are slower methods would be stopped.
Assuming this is a mercy killing, good for him. I'd gladly sign up for a life that ends with my wife and I going out together and on our own terms in our 90s like that. [Reply]
