Chiefs prez Mark Donovan, when asked this AM about potential new stadium options, said the team has considered options in state of Kansas. They like Arrowhead and legacy of Lamar Hunt’s stadium, but have been pitched by Kansas developers on a bunch of options. Something to watch.

I'm not claiming that they are threatening to leave the metro area, but the idea that they wouldn't even consider a suburban location seems rather naive.
SF passed a bond measure to keep the 49ers within the city limits at the old Candlestick location, but that wasn't enough to keep them from building a new stadium in Santa Clara.
Die hard fans threw a hissy fit for a few minutes and then got over it. [Reply]

I was more or less talking about leaving the state of Mo for Ks. Kansas City will find a way to swindle the voters to stay in KC as they did on the new airport being built we didn't need. [Reply]

Well sure. And I would guess that's most likely. But I wouldn't automatically rule out a move out of the KCMO city limits or even across state lines.
I think there were plenty of niner fans that thought the new stadium of course had to be built in the actual city of San Francisco. Until it turned out it didn't. It got built in a different city down south. They are still called the SF 49ers and no one cares.
Neither of the New York city teams play in the state of New York. [Reply]

Yeah, but those commercial developments aren't so young and surrounded by baseball and soccer stadiums, race tracks, casinos, lodges, restaurants, and anchor retail...even with all the closings, Village West is Kansas' most visited attraction. Yeah, I'm going to punt. [Reply]
