So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]

6 pressures against Tennessee (same as Orlando had against them)
4 against Philly

He's the same age, a better pass blocker, has a full season's worth of starting experience protecting the closest thing skillset-wise to Mahomes there is.
A decent left tackle contract and a #2 probably does it.
I'd do that in a heartbeat.
Yeah, he's outstanding. He's only given up TWO sacks on THREE pass-rushes by Hutchinson. Gotta get a guy like that when you can. [Reply]

I saw one of those sacks, and it was definitely from the other side. No idea on the other. [Reply]
This year, he’s played 437 pass block snaps (124 on left 313 on right) and gave up 3 sacks and 25 pressures (14 pressures and 2 sacks in last 6 games)
Orlando has played 769 pass block snaps (all on left) and gave up 4 sacks and 47 pressures (12 pressures and 1 sack in last 6 games)
You don’t pay a player for what he’s done. You pay him for what he will do for you. Orlando has been playing really well the last 11 games now…the lone bad game was the Bengals game.
That Bengals game is looking like it may have been an outlier.

Nobody knows that but every year contracts get crazier and crazier and when a team trades for a player without an extension in place, leverage is all in favor of the player. The trade shows the agent “this is the position we want to pay your client to start for us at long term”.
Agents know the cap is going up a decent amount next year, but jumps BIG next year. [Reply]
While some non QB upcoming FAs are better, of the non QBs, Brown may get the most money if he ever made it to FA because of his age/position. Chiefs management knows a lot of teams will prioritize Brown so they won't even let him make free agency. Maybe he gets traded for a late 2nd but I doubt Chiefs management let him walk.
GM's/scouts realize it is extremely tough to serve as Mahomes left tackle on an Andy Reid coached team. [Reply]
