I have a theory about rappers. I believe they are the natural evolution of the late 1950's and early 1960's Vegas "Rat Pack." I'm talking Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. Look at the themes of their music. Hedonism, fast living, fast women, materialism, etc. The two generations just express it in different musical fashions. I will say, the musicianship of the Rat Pack was much better, but otherwise pretty much the same thematically. Oh, and Sinatra didn't say F**K, at least not publicly.
