Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

This is, in my experience, the only time I've seen facilitated mediations actually prove semi-useful. SOMETIMES a 3rd party telling a person they're being unreasonable can help.

But that is kinda supposed to be OBJ's agent and it sure wouldn't see that he has much interest in doing that right now.

And if that's the case - all you can do is shrug your shoulders and walk away. Hope he signs the tender and if not it's on to plan C.
When Williams got 25 mil and we traded for Brown who already made it known he wanted to play LT we all knew he was going to ask for a bag. If Veach ends up walking after trading what he did for Brown that's bad. Real bad.

That explains the large ask... he has to pay for the Medium to communicate with Pops.

No, that is called not caving in. I think OBJ could end up being a victim of his own demise. If he does not get a deal done with the Chiefs, I cannot see another team offering him the moon and stars based on only 1 year at the position and not even considered a top LT! He is ranked 23 which is VERY low. He needs to realize this and work his way up into a tier that is admirable/worthy of that kind of compensation talk.

TIER 7: GOOD STARTERS
21. Dion Dawkins, Buffalo Bills
Dawkins has been one of the steadier starting left tackles in the league over his five years as a starter in Buffalo. He’s earned a PFF pass-protection grade above 75.0 in all five seasons and has been the 14th-most valuable tackle in the league since 2020, per PFF WAR. That reliability and consistent play was rewarded with Dawkins’ first Pro Bowl appearance in 2022.

22. Taylor Decker, Detroit Lions
You don’t want to make a habit of asking top-10 draft picks to change positions once they get to the NFL, but the Lions made that decision with Penei Sewell because of Decker’s track record at left tackle since the Lions drafted him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Decker has earned PFF grades above 75.0 in four of his six NFL seasons, including each of the last three years.

Decker may not be in the Pro Bowl conversation every year, but he is an important part of Detroit’s efforts to rebuild their roster through the trenches.

23. Orlando Brown Jr., Kansas City Chiefs
Browns’ success in pass protection with the Ravens came with the caveat that defenses have to alter how they rush the passer against Lamar Jackson, as pass-rushers are often tasked with containing Jackson rather than flushing him from the pocket.

Brown had to make adjustments in Kansas City after some early-season struggles, notably in Week 1 against Myles Garrett, but he settled in as the season progressed. The 6-foot-8, 345-pound tackle out of Oklahoma finished the year with a 74.4 PFF pass-blocking grade — the lowest of his career but still a respectable mark.

He projects as a good, not great, starter for Kansas City, which makes the upcoming contract negotiation between the two sides an interesting one to follow.

#23 is too harsh, but the description is fair. He settled in and was playing more around a #10 level by the end of the season IMO. His value depends on if you think he's an ascending player, or if he's basically what he was the last few weeks of 2021 - solid, not special

PFF is pretty trash with some of their grades anyway. It is funny though that NO ONE thinks he deserves to be the highest paid tackle except him.

Guess who has the highest cap numbers this year at LT?

1. Garrett Bolles
2. DJ Humphries
3. Taylor Decker

Not one of those guys is a top 10 LT. I’m so shocked that good players at value positions cost a lot of money.

The Chiefs have apparently offered him 19 million, which is the 5th highest amount for LT’s. That seems a reasonable figure. It also happens that the 19 million would be at the top of the RT heap. So 5th overall Tackle money. Seems like a more than fair offer.
