I mean... I get he had a decent season last year, but does anybody ever trust Clowney? He's seen as this good solid DE and he's always been just kind of underwhelming.
I get that beggars can't be choosers, but I don't see it as a huge loss. [Reply]
This team is adding a quality veteran edge rusher via signing or trade before training camp (thinking one of Dunlap, JPP or Quinn). Wouldn’t be surprised with an additional signing of a quality interior pass rusher as well (thinking Suh or Hicks). We have the flexibility and have acknowledged the need. It’ll come together.
Don’t think they ever legitimately considered Clowney (and vice versa). Seemed like CLE all the way.
Dunlap got the same number of sacks as Clowney last season without Garrett on the other side of him and he's still out there so let's hope Veach gets serious now. Browns have given Clowney 23m in two seasons btw. [Reply]
According to Rapoport, Clowney turned down at least a couple multi-year deals worth $14-15M per year to take Cleveland’s 1-year deal at $11M.
First off, makes little sense from Clowney’s perspective. Second, a multi-year offer worth $14-15M per year for Clowney would be wholly inconsistent with everything Veach has done this offseason. Can’t imagine we were players.

True but KC has never wanted him. I’ll defer to Andy and Bart Verch. [Reply]
Breaking: FA RB Darrel Williams is signing with the #AZCardinals, per source.
I’m also told Patrick Mahomes vouched for Williams, informing Arizona that he was a back he both liked/trusted. DW had a great season w/over 1,000 scrimmage yards, 8 TDs/zero fumbles (191 touches).

By all accounts he's just not highly thought of in the Chiefs organization. So I never really considered him a possibility. At 1 yr/$11 million he'd have fit under the cap just fine, but the Chiefs seemingly have little interest in him.
Quinn, JPP and/or Dunlop seem like the way we'll go. [Reply]
