OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Hell,

Their running back beat women and they drafted him. We gave ours away…..(side rant I’m still salty)

Who would you take over Burrow?
Stafford? Wilson? Prescott?

You combine the two, which is really doing Lamar a bit of a disservice in volume numbers since passes generally yield more yardage on a per play basis, and you get 477 'attempts' for 4,333 yards, which comes pretty close to your arbitrary 4.5k figure.

Well your biggest problem is comparing Lamar Jackson to elite QBs like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. Literally no one on this board would make the argument that Lamar Jackson is a top 5 QB comparable to Allen, Mahomes, Rodgers, or Brady.

You're also highlighting my argument that passing yards are a bit overrated. Aaron Rodgers has four MVPs and in those seasons he threw for 4,600, 4,300, 4,300 and 4,100 yards. Dude hasn't even come close to cracking 5k.

You know who did crack 5k? Brees. Like 6 times. You know how many MVPs he's got? 0.

Lots of QBs can't run a pro-style offense.

When you get a talent like Lamar Jackson, you tailor your offense to fit his skillset.

Well in that case, Lamar is ahead of the curve. He throws a TD every 118 yards on average.

Only Ravens fans and fucking idiots would take Lamar over prime Brees.

MVP trophies are fucking worthless anyway. I hope Mahomes never wins another one. They mean nothing to a QB’s true legacy

Lol.. is that what you took from my post?

Even Ravens fans wouldn't take Lamar over prime Brees, btw.

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes granted a wish to 12-year-old Myka Eilers on ESPN’s “My Wish” series debuting next week. https://t.co/1tjUIfwmMC

Patrick Mahomes

Needs 4,500 passing yards and 35 touchdown passes to become the fourth quarterback ever with four career seasons of those totals, joining Tom Brady (five), Drew Brees (four) and Peyton Manning (four).

Needs 35 touchdown passes to become the fifth quarterback ever with four career seasons with at least 35 touchdown passes, joining Tom Brady (six), Aaron Rodgers (six), Drew Brees (four) and Peyton Manning (four).

Needs 2,264 passing yards in his first 12 starts to surpass Matthew Stafford (21,254) for the most passing yards ever by a player in his first 75 career starts. Mahomes has 18,991 passing yards in his career.

Needs 23 touchdown passes in his first 12 starts to surpass Dan Marino (173) for the most ever by a player in his first 75 career starts. Mahomes is at 151 career touchdown passes.

I'd take Burrow over all of them when considering current age. None of those guys you listed do much for me.

Stafford was nothing in Detroit, he won on a LOADED team.

Wilson would be the closest because his deep ball is purty. But he also holds on to the damn ball way to long.

Prescott is a upgraded Alex Smith.

My top 6:

Patrick Mahomes
Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Josh Allen
Justin Herbert
Joe Burrow

Big year for Pat.

If he shows he can do it all year without an elite WR I don't think anybody can question him, ever.

He also has something to prove after his total meltdown in the AFCCG to an inferior opponent. It reminded me of a once-solid pitcher who suddenly can't hit the strike zone due to some mental/confidence issue. I find that to be very concerning. Hopefully he'll put those concerns to rest right out of the gate this year.

I'll admit I'm bias when it comes to Burrow. But since his season at LSU this kid has just looked like he had "IT"

I have same list but I go

Mahomes
Brady
Allen
Rodgers
Joe
Herbert

Only because I factor in post season with reg season. The only reason Tom Brady isnt #1 is age, and only reason Rodgers isn't higher is post season.

You could see the confidence issue hitting him earlier in the year too. If there is anything he should have been focusing on this summer it's maintaining confidence no matter what. Playing not to lose isn't how to play in the NFL.

It was the most concerning thing i've seen in the Chiefs Mahomes era.

Huh. I don't know if Jackson or Garropolo is more shocking.
