Can someone explain in plain English where the two first round picks that are "awarded" or "gained" to the team losing a player to a non-exclusive franchise tag come from?
Nowhere online does it say they come from the team that actually signs the player, although I think they do, right? Nor does it explain what happens if say the team that signed the player has already traded away their next two years of first round picks. Does the team that loses the player just have to wait?

I think another part of this is not committing the same sin Denver did last year. They rolled out the red carpet and gladly let Seattle go in dry and realized Russ is scheme specific. Have to think the same thing would happen with Lamar.
Much smarter to go after a better stop gap like Derek Carr, Jamies Winston, Jimmy G, Baker Mayfield or Marcus Marriotta than put literally all of your chips on the table for Lamar [Reply]

Yeah. Lamar is going to get more beat up as he ages. I'd definitely want a contract with an out window that opens up no more than 3 yrs. down the line. I think Jalen Hurts is a better passer than Lamar, but not quite as electric as a runner. Even 24 yo hurts had a shoulder issue late in the season.
