Well, I don't recall 49er fans saying the championship game was rigged 2 weeks before it even happened. Bengals fans (and apparently the entire Bengals TEAM) didn't know that all potential playoff venues sell advance tickets.

Not only was the whistle blown, but the official who was blowing it was running and gesturing to stop play, which could have potentially been seen by players, especially players on offense who were facing his direction. That play was not going to count, whether we did or didn't convert. It's stupid for fans to call it a "do-over", because had we thrown a TD on that play, I'm about 99% sure, on the basis of watching NFL games for over 40 years, that the TD wouldn't have counted. NFL officials, rightly, simply do not give a ****. If the ball is dead, it's dead, as far as they are concerned. They "cancel" plays not infrequently, including scoring plays and big yardage gainers, especially for pre-snap penalties. [Reply]

It wouldn't have. Had that happened to take a TD off the board no one would have had issues with the "do over". Funny how no one on the Bengals sideline noticed the ref running either. Whole thing is weird. Media wants a rival in the worst kind of ways, but they loved it when Brady dominated a few decades. Even for a while having no real qb rival. The nfl doesn’t want to lean in on mahomes and I think they kind of resent that one of the most marketable players of all time plays in Kansas City.
