So was Neil let go solely so we could pay for Grbac?

If so, that has to be one of the more devastating decisions in Carl's front office history.

That picture being circulated could definitely put the Chiefs name down.

The Chiefs offered Smith a nice contract and he wanted to test free agency. He didn't get an offer from anyone for as much as the Chiefs offered, so he came back and wanted to accept the original offer. The Chiefs told him they would match the best offer he got which was from the Broncos. He refused to play for the Chiefs unless they paid him more and signed a contract with Denver for less money than what the Chiefs had originally offered him.

Worse yet, he opened a restaurant in KC with his name on it. After what happened with him going to Denver and the crap he did in all that, why did he think the KC area would support his restaurant? Unsurprisingly, it went bankrupt.

Neil Smith had the longest arms of any man I've ever seen.

I didn’t remember that we had ever offered him a deal, but I was also 5 years old at the time and everything about Smith I had read later from other sources.

I thought Javon Kearse "The Freak" of the Titans had the longest wing span at 7' 3"

More devastating than Carl's decision to draft Blackledge? I think not...

IIRC, at the time it happened, it was not a bad call. Blackledge was a consensus good pick. It just turned out that he was the worst pick we could make.

But, it was before I moved back from overseas, and I was only 12 so...
