Nzoner's Game Room>-- CPer's Drive-Ins & Dives - share your local 'hole-in-the-wall'
Simply Red 01:08 PM 01-05-2011
Yeah, pls. share the menu of some restaurant choices (local 'to you') that are not really chains, but have great food. Novelty places are a plus - you may wanna post menu links and their physical business signs.

Food topics have always gone over well. I have several in mind, but i'll wait and join up, later.

TY

Dagwoods is still there. I drive by it on the way to work ever once in awhile. Strasser Hardware is still going strong too.

You guys are making me jealous. NE Washington is a culinary wasteland.

when I lived in Grandview about 7 years ago or so, there was a place right off Blue Ridge and 470 (South of 470; East side of BR) called "Bee Cee's.".

Great BBQ; generous portions; excellent prices. used to hit up that place all the time. and it certainly qualified as a 'dive'. Owner was usually always there; real friendly dude.

no idea if it's stil there however.

J's Carryout Emporia KS

Google Maps

This joint seats like 12 max. They are one hell of a good greasy spoon. These people are just goddamn happy being a greasy spoon. Both the husband and wife are there everyday.

Burger + Fries + Free ice cream cone = Happy Buehler445

If you're ever in Emporia, you MUST eat here.

Also in Emporia, Bobby D's Merchant Street BBQ.

Link

This is the best BBQ in the void between I-70 and Wichita. Arguably the best BBQ outside of KC. Outstanding Q serves this place /Yoda.

On Friday nights, they serve BBQ prime rib. It's expensive, but worth every dollar.

If you're wandering across I-30 from Dallas to Little Rock and get hungry around Texarkana.

Colima's http://www.yelp.com/biz/colimas-texarkana has authentic Mexican food (not the usual Texas Tex-Mex. Surf and Turf burrito is good for 2 meals.

Want a burger bigger than your head? Ask Nzoner (who clogged Bob Dole's toilet) about Guy's Orange Stand in Nash. They also have an in-house orange drink served with a cup of freshly roasted salted peanuts you're supposed to dump in the cup. (Bob Dole has never understood the fascination with this, but it's unique.)

TLC Burgers on Broad Street http://www.yelp.com/biz/tlc-burgers-and-fries-texarkana has a great burger and fresh cut fries covered with their "Red River Sand". It's not nearly as entertaining now that the old woman version of the Soup Nazi no longer works there, but the food is still top notch. (They're only open from 11:30am until 3:30pm, or something like that.)

T-Town Diner is a stereotypical trucker cafe with kickass breakfast fare. Think Mel's Diner from TV's Alice, complete with Flo the waitress. http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/75/78755...iner-Texarkana

The Green Tomato has always done Bob Dole right, but kindra68 always complains about the food she gets from there. http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/301/1445...mato-Texarkana Fried green tomatoes and an open face pot roast sammich FTW.

Bob Dole has probably had everything on the menu at Fat Jack's Oyster Bar http://www.yelp.com/biz/fat-jacks-oy...orts-texarkana and all of it has been good. Probably best to stay away if you don't like smoke, and definitely do NOT go into the kitchen. Live music Thursday-Saturday nights as a bonus.

The Dairy Isle in S Greenfield (by Stockton) is awesome. They have fantastic milk shakes and their fried food is always great.

Longboards in the Northland is supposed to be really good... I've heard really good things about it from coworkers, but never seem to make it there for lunch...
