Yeah, pls. share the menu of some restaurant choices (local 'to you') that are not really chains, but have great food. Novelty places are a plus - you may wanna post menu links and their physical business signs.
Food topics have always gone over well. I have several in mind, but i'll wait and join up, later.
The dive that I most frequent in Tuscaloosa has to be Taqueria Jaripeo. I didn't think that I was going to find a place for real Mexican food in Tuscaloosa, so the tacos here are an absolute Godsend.
Is this place right across the street from the Leavenworth Ford Dealership? If so, we ate there right after my wife bought her new Taurus. Nice place, food was decent for KC BBQ. I liked it more than my wife did. She's kinda picky about BBQ. Met the owner, he was a really nice guy. Do they have a porch around the outside? Day we were there, bikers were raising money for charity and they had live music on the porch. [Reply]
This wiki write-up in regards to Fred and Reds, made me laugh --> Smoking is allowed in the restaurant, but credit cards, debit cards, and checks are not. [Reply]

At one time Russellville was famous and a burger-lover destination stop for their Feltner's Whattaburger (not the same as the chain). Now, there's a "new" kid on the block: CJ's.
It's a little shop owned by this Lebanese guy and his very American family. They make all kinds of sandwiches in pita bread. My girlfriend and I are convinced that they put crack in their sandwiches. My favorites are the gyro and the taco pocket. They also make their own pita chips.
When I still lived in Kansas, loved to go to a little place in Winfield, was at one time called Vans, now I believe it is The Burger Station or something....great burgers, nothing more nothing less. [Reply]
Discovered Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe in Emeryville, CA a few years ago. It's going to be on the real Diner's, Drive-in's, and Dive's later this month. [Reply]

Yup. Unmistakeably authentic. I bet they have a TV that blares Telemundo music videos non stop? [Reply]
