Yeah, pls. share the menu of some restaurant choices (local 'to you') that are not really chains, but have great food. Novelty places are a plus - you may wanna post menu links and their physical business signs.
Food topics have always gone over well. I have several in mind, but i'll wait and join up, later.
If you're ever on I40 traveling between Little Rock and Fort Smith, be sure to stop at CJs.
At one time Russellville was famous and a burger-lover destination stop for their Feltner's Whattaburger (not the same as the chain). Now, there's a "new" kid on the block: CJ's.
Los Tarascos on Vivion and North Oak... I don't generally think Mexican tastes all that different from place to place, but this stuff is the real deal (and they also have imported bottles of Pepsi with real sugar).

Yeah, there are several now... one in St Joseph, too. I've been eating there for half my life, back from when there were just the two in the Northland.... the one on Barry Road was a high school hangout. My parents got addicted to it so we often go there for quality family time, and I currently live and work close to one, so I end up going every week or two for one reason for another. [Reply]

Sounds similar to ColumbiaMex here in Fayetteville. It's at the back of a strip mall groceria. Butcher with a meat case on one side of the back. The other half is a counter with a flat top grill. They'll sell you lengua, tripe, chicharonnes, whatever... and cut it fresh. Freaking awesome.
KC Native's grandmother ran a place called Las Playas across from Cool Crest near Sterling and 40 in the eighties, it was the bomb. I believe it's gone, now. I've mentioned it in the yesteryr. thread, many of time. [Reply]
OK, correction - Sheridans does NOT serve butter burgers, so yeah, that's not accurate. Also, there are several of these frozen custard establishments in Missouri - yet, only one in GA. So my claim is entirely inaccurate, Culvers was clearly the one i was thinking of. [Reply]
There is a burger place called Arkansas Burger Company in Little Rock that is awesome. Everytime I drive south we have to stop there and get the greek burger. [Reply]
got a couple.
1. Go Chicken Go. Full order of gizzards and hot sauce with a butter soaked bun
2. Wasabe japanese rest. in Liberty. Only place i've been since lived in Japan that
had real udon soba (soup) and real tempura shrimp and veggies. Sushi also. [Reply]
