Talk about, report, and complain about weather here. It does not matter where you live. Talk about what you got. Snow, wind, hail, storms, virga, meatballs. Give information about what city is close to you. Pics are great too.

This map can be used by anyone and moved to your area. It is customizable for you and gives a lot of information.

Blew right through us here. There was 93 MPH gusts in Lincoln. By the time it got to my house outside of Omaha, it came and went in like 10 minutes. But further to the north there were some tornadoes and power outages. Done by 6pm. But right now there are crazy winds blowing, probalby 40 to 60. And it was like 72 degrees today...on December 15th...

So it took us about an hour to figure out that the smoke smell was coming all the way from fucking Kansas.

How is everyone doing? We're still without power. About 19K in Shawnee County where I live lost power, 37K in NE KS overall.

It's still dark out so I won't know for sure for another hour or so but it looks like we have very little damage for once. Getting tired of having once-in-a-lifetime storms every year.

Flipped one of my pivots lost a roof off one of dad's sheds, damage to another. Pretty goddamned lucky to be safe with all the fires and shit.

As of today, most of the storm surveys are complete for the December 15th outbreak. It's unbelievable.
  1. The entire event has been classified as a derecho. The first December derecho in the US anywhere ever.
  2. 43 confirmed tornadoes in Iowa. The previous record was 35 set in August 2014.
  3. 17 confirmed tornadoes EF2 strength or higher. The previous record was 16 set in June 1984.
  4. Record high non-thunderstorm winds including 4 sites that clocked non-thunderstorm wind speeds over 80mph.
  5. The Des Moines airport recorded a wind gust over 70mph. The highest non-thunderstorm gust ever recorded there.
  6. The first ever moderate risk of severe weather in Iowa in December.
  7. Record highs shattered in several towns. 4 towns recorded temperatures of 75 degrees or higher.

Interesting about the DSM wind. Thought the last derochio would have at least matched that.

If bored, look up the armistice day blizzard.

Only 70? Our local airport guy told me 97. And all that is after the front blew through.

Is all that stuff for just Iowa? Fuck all those fucking tornadoes.
