What's reasonable about it?

It's red meat for the eat the rich crowd and it's painless for almost everyone else so it's more politically acceptable, but it doesn't raise any money and it will fuel an intense round of lobbying to shape the inevitable deductions/incentives/loopholes that follow.

I did mean AA. But JH is right that she has a BA. She talks about things that would require a BS, but whatever.

Denmark has a complex system of personal income tax that includes:

a labour market contribution of 8% of your entire income
a deduction before any tax is due: personal allowance of DKK 45 000 (under 18 DKK 33 800) for municipal taxes, health contributions of 2% and bottom-bracket tax of 10.08%
highest tax bracket of 15% on income above DKK 479 600
municipal tax Ė payable at flat rates, which vary depending on where you live (average municipal tax: 24.913%)
church tax: 0.69%
social security contributions.
In total, no person must pay more than 51.95% in national and municipal taxes combined.

Most personal income is subject to AM tax of
8%. This tax is deducted from the income
before the other taxes are calculated. The
income tax rates are progressive and
comprise state, municipality and church
taxes. The lowest tax rate is approx. 36% up
to a marginal income tax rate of 52.02%
exclusive of church tax. Including AM tax, the
rates are approx. 41% and 56%.
Share income is taxed according to special
rules, and tax rates are progressive at 27% or
42%

Imagine if the US suddenly went Dane and 100% of wage earners will pay 8% just to start.....

Im actually surprised things have not changed since I lived in Denmark. At that time I was earning a cash stipend of 1000DKK per month and my withholding was 27%...That was the labour tax plus my health and welfare.

Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks to the VC he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP

I must have got under your thin skin for you to do the research. :-)

You verbally remind of those false wealth "wantabees" that had a big house with no furniture, leased fancy cars, and maxed out CCs trying to impress everyone with their wealth and smarts.

She has called for one thing I give her credit for being a good thing. She called for congressional salaries to be furloughed during a government shutdown. On that I totally agree.

Thatíd end the shutdown quickly. Representative Road Rules would cave in about 2 seconds.
