“We are sending a signal across the nation and to the global community that we make these changes in the spirit of truth-telling,” Council Member Alondra Cano said ahead of the Council meeting.
“Now that we have established Indigenous People's Day, every child -- whether that child is native or whether that child is not -- will learn the truth about where America really comes from," added U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison.

You have confirmed that you have zero understanding of the tribes and tribal culture. The White man discovered very early that one tribe would sell out another to curru favor and to see the enemy wiped out by the long guns.
Stay out of threads that expose you as a fraud. [Reply]

They didn't have "countries" in the European sense. They had tribes.
So the Pawnee sold out the Cheyenne and Arapahoe. Doesn't make them traitors. The basic unit to which they had loyalty was the tribe. Tribes warred with each other all the time. [Reply]

Nor is really in the same context as traitors to your country over the ability to own others as slaves.
Nor is recognizing native Americans with this day honoring someone who did something like fight their countrymen for the right to own another human as a slave.
Really, the whole "point" fails multiple ways. [Reply]

What country did Native Americans betray, numbnuts? If you're unsure about the definition of "country", look it up. [Reply]

This myth of tribal loyalty has been rebutted by 3 diff posters already. [Reply]
Thats absolutely awful coming from such an otherwise enlightened man
In his experience maybe thats all true, but I've read more than enough books and watched more than enough docs to know it isn't true for all natives [Reply]

"Racism" wasn't really a thing back then, of course. It was, I would say, not only accepted, but expected, that if you were white, the other races were beneath you.
But even so, I would think an individual like Samuel Clemmons would have some minimal level of respect for humanity. That writing is a disgusting hit piece, that exposes a dark side to the man I did not know existed. [Reply]
