Excuses can be made -- have been and will continue to be -- but these numbers are tough to dismiss.

If we lose to the Patriots in the playoffs again, can we permaban Clay for it?

Didnt watch any of the game besides what I saw on RedZone and its clear he's struggling. I mean to start out and struggle against one of the worst teams in the league is telling.

Does NE play anyone of any real stature this year?

For the love of fuck do the Pats play a real team all season?!

They play the Jets and giants, then CLE, BAL, PHI, DAL, HOU, then the Chiefs. Two or three solid pass-rushing teams in there.

These comments are always hilarious to me.

Brady week 5: Completes 66.7% of his passes for 348 yards, with 3 TDs, 1 Int, Passer Rating of 106

Mahomes week 5: Completes 56.4% of his passes, for 321 yards, with 1 TD, 0 Ints, a Passer Rating of 91.9

Brady was a top 5 passing QB this week, he did just fine. But there are always those who look for the falloff so every missed throw from him is obsessed over while the many perfectly accurate darts he threw this game are brushed off as simply meeting expectations.

And sure, the Redskins are One of the worst teams in football (their defense is ranked 26th in DVOA), but as far as defense, so are the Colts! (their defense is ranked 31st in DVOA, and they're injured all over the place, especially in their secondary). Overall the Cots are ranked 26th in DVOA. Right now Brady is only 100 yards and 1 TD behind Mahomes on the year, so if he's broken down and washed up...

By the way the Patriots face the Cowboys, the Ravens, the Eagles, and the Chiefs this year, or 4 teams in the top 10 in DVOA, specifically teams which are #3, 4, 5, and 6 in DVOA. They just face them all from week 8+

Patrick is the next Aaron Rodgers. The Pats are not his problem. Who his HCs & GMs are, is

His HC right now, Andy Reid, has the 6th most wins all time of a HC in the NFL and 2nd highest of an active head coach. Of the active HCs, his win percentage is behind only Belichick, Tomlin, and Sean Peyton. If the lunatics in Pittsburgh get their way maybe you'll have a shot at Tomlin, but seriously, who are you going to replace Reid with who is better?

Meanwhile the GM got you Mahomes. I would say more but isn't that enough?

Honestly if you would replace either of those, who would you replace them with, whom you have a realistic chance at obtaining? Keep in mind as well that good teams and organizations tend to be those without crazy turnover, while those who churn through new HCs and GMs every year inevitably rot in the gutter in the long run. Even if the folks you have are bad, most of the time switching is worse, and the folks you have are not bad, at all, they're some of the best in the NFL.

Comparing Patrick to Rodgers' folly(not of his making) past. Not a swipe at Mahomes current situation. Reid will be long gone before Patrick

Well, if you step on his ankle and re-injure it, take away his #1 and #2 receivers, his starting LT, and his offensive genius of a coach forgets that you CAN actually run the ball AND call these fun little things called ‘screen passes’ instead of just having him drop back and pass on every play, then apparently yes you can hold him under 26.

So congrats to the Colts, I guess.

Patriots lost the GOAT TE to retirement, a great C to injury, Edelman has banged up ribs, the rest of the O-line is a patchwork of castoffs, Dorsett went out in the game... excuses are excuses. You win or you don't. The Colts exposed a litany of problems that are not new (Chiefs O-line, Chiefs D, inability to beat man, suspect play calling). You lost to a team with a banged-up D and a backup QB, at Arrowhead, only scoring 13. Suck it.
