Nzoner's Game Room>This team can win the Super Bowl
rabblerouser 06:55 PM 11-22-2021
The offense doesn't have to be explosive like 2019 - with the defense playing like this, they just have to be efficient. Clean up the turnovers. Take the easy yards. Win the Super Bowl.

Problem is they aren't efficient. Out of 11 potential scoring drives KC only managed to score any points 4 times, 2 TDs and 2 FGs. That's just a 36.3% scoring rate.

That's just awful. Even last year with all the plodding performances they scored at about a 58% rate. that's a 22% drop-off.

And no team has ever won a SB scoring under 40%.

The defense is fixed, or fixed enough to win a SB. But the offense has to fix their shit asap.

That's funny. At the beginning of the season the logic was reversed...D doesn't need to be that good...

it's possible.

With a better defense than 2019, and a slightly lesser offense.

This offense needs to be more consistent, though.

And less turnover prone.

But it's possible.

That's one fucking game with ridiculous wind conditions that would be hard to tell on TV. Look at how bad Dak struggled.

The player that just returned from injury with the thunder thighs. The fat man should use him like Brian Westbrook and beat the shell coverage.

Well, clearly the Dallas game isn't good enough, no.

But the week prior, they were much more efficient.

So we'll have to see. I feel like Patrick left several easy completions on the field, one of which he took the strip sack on.

But you know. It's a process. I think they COULD. We'll just see.

As a Chiefs fan, this is all that matters at this point in the season. We’re invested. We feel like we have something to prove. We’re done with that winner’s curse 20–and-0-or-bust mindset after getting embarrassed by the Bills and Titans. We’re able to enjoy this team like we did in 2018 just excited to go along for the ride knowing a Super Bowl is a real possibility.

However this season ends, I’m enjoying the experience more than I did last year which felt more like going through with the motions as a perpetual favorite constantly tip-toeing on eggshells.

This was an interesting post - thanks for compiling the data!

From a full season perspective, of our stalled drives, is there a way to understand the stall reason?

I wonder what % are due to drops, penalties, sacks, turnovers, missed FG's, turnover on downs, bad decisions by the qb, or bad play calls by the coaches. Probably tough to quantify, especially since there's likely overlap, but would love to know each variable's impact and trendline.

The good news is that most of those are within our control.

- It appears that Patrick's poor decisions have been reduced.
- Playcalling for the most part seems to be better, or at least trending better.
- Remmers will likely be back, as will Niang, and both are upgrades over Wylie, and that will hopefully help to reduce sacks.
- I'm not certain, but I believe our offensive penalties have been trending down.
- Drops are still there.
- Turnovers have decreased, but are still lingering.

Just imagine if Good offense, defense, and special teams all show up in the same game for the Chiefs… a dominant/unstoppable force.

Offense looks like its old self when the tackles don't get dominated. I just don't think the tackles are good enough to run the table in the playoffs.

Sorry, no legitimate sports media outlet agrees with you. The facts are that KC has only scored more than 20 points once in the last 5 games. And it gets worse. KC isn't scoring TDs efficiently enough to win in the playoffs, much less the SB.

In the TEN game KC scored just once in 8 scoring possessions.

Just 4 times out of 10 in the NYG game.

3 times vs. GB out of 10.

And finally in this last game, just 4 times out of 10.

And most of those scores were FGs, not TDs.

They need to score more TDs more consistently, period.

The offense isn't fixed yet, but they are trending in the right direction. And I believe that they'll figure it out. But they ain't there yet.

You’re the dude who just claimed Mecole Hardman was a solid receiver in another thread because of all the deep passes he caught on his highlight reel.

You clearly used a stretched imagination to support that mediocre, flawed receiver, but you’re unable to envision a world where Mahomes and Reid correct these deficiencies? But but have you ever seen Mahomes’ highlight tape?
