The #Ravens are trading LT Orlando Brown to the #Chiefs, per me and @MikeGarafolo. A new blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have many options given how many OL spots we needed to fill.

The options were:

1. Trent Williams (tried that but couldn’t get him)
2. Draft (hoping for someone to fall to 31)
3. Stop gap
4. Hope Fisher can play
5. Brown

Veach and Andy got pigeon-holed into trading for this guy.

Fisher had a major injury in January and won’t be back to normal until 2022, they tried for Trent Williams and nobody else was available.

Riley Reiff is not a LT. The draft prospects available to us were not LT’s. The only option was trading up 9 spots to 22 for Christian Darrisaw and that would have cost multiple early rd picks this and next year to accomplish.

It sucks but we were pigeon-holed. Be thankful we didn’t give up much to get Brown Jr and have also not paid him shit

I still think he’s a good LT….IF YOU PLAY TO HIS STRENGTHS.

Stop dropping back super fucking deep…especially when you’re behind a ton and they know you’re going to be doing it. Why the fuck we’ve gotten away from the short passing game kills me.

People on fb and Twitter keep saying we gave up so much for this guy, that’s really the bright spot. We didn’t.

I agree and disagree. He is a fantastic run blocker but he was getting beat so bad and fast yesterday he made Niangs first half two weeks ago look good. He’s got slow feet and it’s showing up at the worst possible times.

He’s getting beat on ten step drop backs because he’s always had issues with speed rushers. That’s like drafting Bolton and asking him to go cover TEs 90% do the time.

Pat needs to step up in the pockets
more.

Yes and Pat also needs to run through the lane that was made by the speed rusher going around the edge. If he did that it would put more pressure on them to stay home. He is not punishing them for vacating that area of the field.

The trade was:
Orlando Brown
Nick Bolton (Ravens pick)
6th rounder next year

for
Odafe Oweh, DE
Ben Cleveland, G
Pick traded to Cardinals for 5th(Shaun Wade, CB) and 2022 4th rounder
5th rounder next year

Shaun Wade was traded for 2022 seventh-round pick and a 2023 fifth-round pick.

Cleveland is on the IR.

Ravens got a bunch of picks for the 4th rounder. That's about it.

YET, but we are going to this offseason. They did not make this trade just to throw it all away after one season. We will sign Brown to an extension at the end of this season for somewhere between $16 and $20 million AAV.

The dude needs to drop about 35 lbs if he's going to be quick enough to play LT.
