Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs Trade for OT Orlando Brown
Dante84 01:00 PM 04-23-2021
developing.

The #Ravens are trading LT Orlando Brown to the #Chiefs, per me and @MikeGarafolo. A new blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources.

Orland Brown, 2021 2nd and a 2022 6th rounder
Ravens get: 2021 1st, 3rd, 4th and 20221 5th

I wonder if Reid wants Brown to shed his gut and lean out so he be more agile in passing sets

Not sure if posted in here, but Next Gen Stats (much much much better and more informed than PFF) has Brown at a 91.3% pass block win rate over the last 2 years which puts ranks him 12th among all tackles.

He looked plenty agile in the OP video pulling etc, I think it would be risky to try and change him.

There will be an element there of the Ravens scheme maybe making pass blocking easier because defenses might be taking a run first approach, but then the Chiefs do plenty to help out pass blocking (play action, RPOs, screens etc) as well. PFF has a "true passing set" stat, which looks at how pass blocking is in "obvious" pass blocking downs, would be curious how Brown fares in that stat.

This is all balanced out by the fact that he's playing next to Joe thuney-who himself is an all pro. Whatever problems might arise is erased by our other pro bowl oline man. This trade was a KO. Veach somehow got our biggest rival to fill our biggest weakness with "debatably" their most talented player. I mean a 6'8 260 lb LT whose only 24 :-). Come on....

If the Chiefs can ultimately sign Brown long term, then yes.

Where's Peej? Lllllllllllllloaded!

In all seriousness, assuming these new members of the OL can play well together, I just can't realistically see much stopping us this season outside of injury.

That's not exactly a high bar, Clark sucked last year.

I'm not worried at all about scheme fit. Plus he's got an all pro LG starting next to him, this was a great landing spot for Brown.

The main reason I like this is that when you sit at 31, you’re counting on 30 other teams passing on your guy. Some will take other positions, but several offensive tackles will be selected before our pick. You’ll be choosing the best OT that 30 other teams didn’t want.

If you move up to get your guy, you’re giving up way more than we gave up for Brown AND you’re getting an unproven player. Is he Joe Thomas or Robert Gallery (lol Raiders).

I never thought the compensation would be this reasonable. Hard to find an issue with this. I like this more than giving an old Trent Williams a huge contract.

I can count all of the negatives of this trade on one hand...specifically my right hand and all the blisters I now have from jacking off to this trade all night!
