Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs Trade for OT Orlando Brown
Dante84 01:00 PM 04-23-2021
developing.

The #Ravens are trading LT Orlando Brown to the #Chiefs, per me and @MikeGarafolo. A new blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources.

Full details: #Chiefs get:
Orland Brown, 2021 2nd and a 2022 6th rounder
Ravens get: 2021 1st, 3rd, 4th and 20221 5th

Also, all the talk of their pass rush vs. our OL aside, we had absolutely no answer for their offense that night either. They could have dropped 50 on us if they wanted/needed to.

I don't think we changed enough to bank on a better performance this season either.
Yep. The idea they aren't serious SB contenders or that we'll just smoke them is the sort of ridiculous bravado that's weirdly common.

I think our OL will improve and be fine, but the hyperbole over the rebuild (I'm sure I've been guilty at times too) has been silly - some of the stuff said about the Browns trade was embarrassing. I think the interior is immediately better and is going to keep getting better, but our tackles are obviously worse that last year's, at least in pass protection. I think that'll be enough to beat TB but I can see the concern.

I think the biggest takeaway after doing some thinking today is that maybe Reid learned a lot about the way this particular team needs to win in that second half. He shortened the field. He started playing that dink-and-dunk offense quite a bit more. That takes a lot of pressure off the tackles to protect the outside. I feared for Patrick's life every single time he took a 5-step drop, much less a 7. Reid seemed to take it down to a lot more 3-step drop plays and Patrick executed the short game to perfection. It's very Alex-esque, but I think it'll get this team further. I'd love to see a passing chart for this game.

Moreover, it shows he learned from the Super Bowl. It was frustrating he didn't try similar shit in the Super Bowl. I'm hoping it can be chalked up to Britt's shit. But since I'm a jaded Chief fan, doubt crept in.

It's hard to win consecutive SBs. It's hard to go to 3 consecutive conference championship games. I even worry that we'll see it again this season with 17 games and another post-season run.

The fatigue has to set in, especially when you carry the weight of a franchise, city and in many ways entire league on your shoulders the way Mahomes does.
New baby at home isn't helping. That is a long adjustment.

Such a disaster that it took Cleveland 2 4th conversations to get 2 of their touchdowns. Should have just been a 13-10 halftime lead.
