Rumors confirmed without a doubt. I'm just glad KK didn't get her way with the original abysmal ending and folks are having a good time with it. Still a bit baffled why she hasn't been fired. [Reply]
Yikes. Tracking for a 65 million opening. That puts it firmly in bomb territory, although that's way more to do with just how much they've spent making/promoting it.
On track for a 6 million Thursday. For comparisons sake Crystal Skull got 25 million on its opening Thursday. [Reply]
When all the audience going to an established series is the fanboys, and the people who've already been driven off are missing along with the non-existent casual watchers, you get an artificially high audience score.
That's how you end up with TLJ being the #4 audience rated Star Wars movie at rottentomatoes.com. [Reply]

When you play to a small core audience because you've driven off the rest, it's what can happen. It doesn't always happen, because sometimes the movies turn off even the hardcore fans, but it does happen a fair amount.
We see the same thing in sports, too, where crappy teams still have a loyal core that puts up with just about anything. This isn't some phenomenon that's exclusive to movies. [Reply]
