Media Center>Bands you wish everyone else knew about.
Lprechaun 11:39 AM 01-19-2014
Every once in awhile someone somewhere will turn me onto a new band or group I hadnt heard of. Might be something older like Nat King Cole that you woldnt ever think you would like or something from your childhood that you just dont remember like Social Distortion that you have a new found respect for or a new band that you had to go find everything they had ever done.

Mine would be The Drowning Men, they were signed by Borstal Beat records after touring with Flogging Molly (BB is FMs label) the wife and I have seen them numerous times and its always a great show.

My personal favorite song is "Rita". Enjoy

Im hoping to find some more good groups from this thread!

Did I get transported back to high school? I clicked into this thread and my printer spat out a ticket to Ozzfest.

My daughter and I got to see The Damned at SXSW this year (both a new rockumentary and a live performance*) and whenever I tell people about it, no one seems to know who they are.

----------------------
* The singer (Dave Vanian) and guitarist in the glasses (Captain Sensible) are the only originals still in the band.

Alabama Shakes. Best CD I've bought in years.

They are growing on me and I LOVE her. Will never be huge for me though. Different strokes.

I'm not dismissing this band as I like them, but what world do you live in that they're "unknown?" They get frequent play on the radio here.

I think I've already probably pimped these guys in this thread, but they're out touring again...so I'll try to drum up some love for them. Their live show is really good.

Love the music. Wish they would sing. Again...I'm old.

I mean, the aggression has it's place, and I even appreciate it to a degree...but goddam, if you have something to say...say it so people can understand...

Here's a pretty fantastic singer songwriter that plays a lot regionally as well. Absolutely fantastic lyricist.

Here's another John Moreland live at SXSW. The son of a bitch is going to kill himself if he doesn't get his health in order. That would be a damned shame.

One more from Moreland. This is probably his biggest "hit." Very apt.
