Patteeu Memorial Political Forum>Cheney Declares War on Trump Moments After Her Ouster

After House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as chair of the conference, the lawmaker pledged to ensure Donald Trump would never get “near the Oval Office” again.

“Going forward, the nation needs a strong Republican Party,” she said at a defiant presser after the vote. “The nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism and I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward and I plan to lead the fight to do that.”

A reporter then noted that Trump may end up back in the White House in 2024, asking Cheney if she was prepared to prevent that.

“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office. We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language,” Cheney said. “We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it is very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution.”

The representative condemned Trump and stressed her dedication to conservative values in remarks to her Republican colleagues moments before they voted to oust her.

“We cannot let the former president drag us backward and make us complicit in his efforts to unravel our democracy,” she said. “Down that path lies our destruction, and potentially the destruction of our country.”

“I will be leading the fight to restore our party and our nation to conservative principles, to defeating socialism, to defending our republic, to making the GOP worthy again of being the party of Lincoln.”

I hope you're right, but she's fooled them in the past. And, even if they do ditch her, who knows whether or not they'll be smart enough to avoid electing another Liz Cheney?

Nothing specific to Wyoming, but the American electorate is a very stupid group.

My sincerest hope is that Cheney loses her seat, the Dems lose the HOR, and the Republicans give the Dems a taste of their own medicine by nixing every Dem committee slate and choosing each one for them. Then they need to declare Antifa and BLM to be the biggest threats to the country, and sic the alphabet agencies on them.

It's time, and long past time, for the Republicans to start giving Democrats a full dose of their own medicine.

Cheney and Kinzinger have accepted Pelosi's offer to sit on the Jan. 6 commission, meaning they are Democrat, not Republican, appointees.

:-)

Anyone surprised?

I wonder if things would be different had (R)'s voted in favor of the original commission.

If the dems won't allow dissenting voices like Jordan and Banks, then its nothing more than a banana republic show trial with no weight, nor legitimacy behind it

Let them proceed with their predetermined outcome, no one cares anymore

The original was supposed to have an equal number of R's and D's.

This one has 8 D appointees and 5 R's.

What would they be dissenting to?

This is supposed to be an investigation into the events on and leading up to Jan 6th. If they voted against forming this commission, why should they be on it?

You and Dave can talk in circles all night long, and it still won't add any legitimacy to your banana republic show trial... you won't sway anyone outside your base with the upcoming canned outcome

It'll be meaningless, absolutely worthless

Probably. But I am curious to see what turns up. Several R's who pushed for this initially did an about face after a while.
