Patteeu Memorial Political Forum>Cheney Declares War on Trump Moments After Her Ouster

After House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as chair of the conference, the lawmaker pledged to ensure Donald Trump would never get “near the Oval Office” again.

“Going forward, the nation needs a strong Republican Party,” she said at a defiant presser after the vote. “The nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism and I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward and I plan to lead the fight to do that.”

A reporter then noted that Trump may end up back in the White House in 2024, asking Cheney if she was prepared to prevent that.

“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office. We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language,” Cheney said. “We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it is very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution.”

The representative condemned Trump and stressed her dedication to conservative values in remarks to her Republican colleagues moments before they voted to oust her.

“We cannot let the former president drag us backward and make us complicit in his efforts to unravel our democracy,” she said. “Down that path lies our destruction, and potentially the destruction of our country.”

“I will be leading the fight to restore our party and our nation to conservative principles, to defeating socialism, to defending our republic, to making the GOP worthy again of being the party of Lincoln.”

I love how the Democrats have accepted the Neo-Cons into the fold and making the case why they should be the place for people who should be in prison like Dick Cheney and his idiot daughter.

I like this opinion piece by David Stockman, former Dir of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan. He is not pro-Trump by any means. But here's what the thinks of Liz Cheney. Gotta love it!
Good Riddance, Liz Cheney

There have been few politicians in modern times who have done more to undermine personal liberty, capitalist prosperity, small government and especially world peace than the Cheney Clan. So upon Liz Cheney’s ouster from the #3 job in the US House GOP hierarchy, we say: Good riddance!

And, no, we don’t begrudge her vote to impeach the Donald. The man is such an insufferable bully-boy and megalomaniac that upon his richly deserved exile from Washington her “yes” vote amounted to little more than a slightly offensive Bronx cheer.

But what is profoundly offensive about the Cheneys is their central role in high-jacking the Republican Party in behalf of the demented worldview of a small priesthood of neocon intellectuals. The latter have turned the Warfare State of the now defunct cold war with the Soviet Union into a globe-spanning imperialist monster that has bled America dry fiscally and unleashed unjustified destruction and mayhem all around the planet in a manner that would have put even Imperial Rome to shame.

The immorality, stupidity and monumental fiscal waste of the neocon Forever Wars is bad enough, but actually there is something even more lamentable.

To wit, in today’s world, prosperity and liberty depend more than ever on fiscal rectitude and a conservative party that fights relentlessly and effectively to uphold it. Otherwise, the inherent self-aggrandizing proclivities of the state and the pork-barrel propensities of elected politicians will mushroom unchecked....[lays out all the details in link]

Because the Democrats are the Party-of-War — even more so than Republicans, particularly conservative wing.
Then Democrats like Kerry, who is upping war in Syria and conflict between Palestinians v Israel, and elsewhere lied about being against the Iraq war originally.

The Democrats are responsible for getting us into more wars throughout the 20th century, whereas Republican presidents got us out of them. So it's not surprising that NeoCons would behave like the left when it comes to this issue. NeoCons are progressives for war, but they manipulate grass-roots Republicans to got along pressing the hot-emotional button of "natural security" even when there really is no threat—but more a threat to their quest for empire/hegemony or those weak countries who will not "bend the knee" to Washington D.C.. Or rather today's Rome. That's why NeoCons like Liz Cheney and daddy, are not on the principled right. They push the agenda of the corporate-owned Uni-Party.

The Republicans are terrible too but if nothing else Trumps supposed anti-war sentiments might be something that grows stronger among their base.

I agree Republicans used to have a more isolationist, anti war element but that was decades ago.

The fact is the stupid Iraq and Afghanistan wars cost close to 10 trillion and did not make US stronger, it weakened us.

I suspect Trump is backing her, because she backed him during his impeachment. So he considers her loyal—to him. Unfortunately, that is how politics work.
:-)

It had to be a woman, it had to be someone acceptable to the leadership, and it had to be someone who'd shown a willingness to fight for Republicans targeted by the Dems rather than joining the Dems in manufacturing false attacks.

Well even Reagan didn't go to war with Russia at the height of the Cold War. He did apply the Monroe Doctrine regarding Grenada, but it wasn't a big action. He talked to his enemy at least. Something the media excoriated Trump for.

The uptick in these military operations really began with Bush Sr. with his PGW I which was also based on lies. That lead to bad consequences such as terrorism being brought home here, which happened throughout the 1990s while we put troops on Saudi Holy Lands. From that point on, it's been a non-stop expansion not like anything Reagan did. In fact Reagan, per is autobio, scolded Israel for knocking out Iraq's reactor and other criticisms because these acts by Israel were harmful to the peace process. Repbublicans during the Clinton years, were critical of his Balkan wars. So there still was that strain opposing such things to a degree back then.

I still think, as bad as Pubes are on this, they are still a bit better than the Demo-Bolsheviks. Even the congressman who supported Iraq invasion, and coined "freedom fries" turned against it and regretted his vote. Then there's Gaetz who speaks similarly. The problem is the Unity-Party made up of NeoCons and NeoLibs.

Great news for Liz. Jeff Flake is backing her!

Liz Cheney has been removed from House Leadership for speaking the truth.

In the end, truth will prevail.
