Look when they say a team wins XYZ% of the time it takes all the players etc into effect
Every time the Chiefs Play the Bungels over the last 3 meetings I get it, we didn't come out on top but it does not mean they are the better team, it just means they won that game.
Example, based on the Chiefs having a much better QB ( I get Burrow is ok but he has always had great WR, their number #3 is our number #1) and our Oline better, better defense, better TE, we are a far superior team.
Look I think we win 65% of the time on all of those last three meetings, but that means the other team wins 35% of the time, they rolled the dice and rolled a 1-35, it is what it is, their are upsets that happen all the time in football and underdogs winning when they had no business doing so.
The Ravens beat the Donkeys who are absolutely awful by 1 point 10 to 9. I mean this is like a loss losing to the Broncos by so little. These kind of things happen, I think the Bengals just miss the playoffs or barely sneak in and get bounced in the first round. But they are a quality team, we just got the 1-35 roll, it happens, its football, we are much better, we are going to be hosting the AFC championship game again, etc etc.
I wished we rolled the 36-100 on the dice but it didn't happen, its all good, in the remaining games we should be 90% or higher percentage winners, our odds of going all the way are really high. Proud of the guys today, Kelce does not fumble its over today, stuff just happens. [Reply]
0-3 against them in the Mahomes era with a knack for pant shitting. Doesn't read like we are the better team.
However it is the Bengals play against the Chiefs, it sure feels like the Colts all over again. Mahomes was an all time worse QB in the 2nd half against them in the playoffs last year. This year we fumble. Try to play hero on 3rd and 3 when a free first down is daring you to take it, only to take the sack instead. Ignore the adage that field goals dont win football games and end up missing it completely on a bad snap.
I think we have the better players overall, but it doesnt matter when you are allergic to winning and constantly find a way to fuck it up when you only need to be average. [Reply]
Thinking back on the 3 games...
The first one was very much a tale of two halves and I'd say pretty damn even.
The AFCCCG, I'd say the Chiefs played better in the first half than the Bengals did in the 2nd.... or it certainly felt like that at the time.
And even with the defensive woes yesterday, it felt like the Chiefs had as much control over that game as any other from the point it was 14-10 with 7 minutes left in the first half until the 4th down and missed FG in the 4th (despite the ugly beginning and finish).
So, still not agreeing with OP's conclusion, but can definitely see the glimmer of hope and why it doesn't feel like it should be 0 for 3. We are very much used to the offense getting shit done late in the game and it just hasn't worked out all 3 times or it really could be 3 for 3... again, even with how bad they've looked at times in all 3 games (and the Bengals have had plenty of moments where they didn't execute, too).
Hopeful it doesn't get in their heads and if there's a rematch, they just go out and do their thing as opposed to thinking they have to go for it every 4th down or whatever. [Reply]

But man...watching our DL has become painful. Right now I wouldn't hate DE and DE again as our top 2 picks, it's that bad Otherwise it's WR, DE and an OT in the 3rd that I have to believe can be better than Wylie fairly quickly.

The results say we aren't.
They've beat us in their house and ours. They went to the Super Bowl and we watched it. Right now, we're just not the better team. Not now.
Unless/until we figure out how to even out the battle in the trenches, we aren't the better team.
This defensive line has no-showed against them three times now and their DL has had solid games against us every time.
Maybe Thuney neutralizing DJ Reader would make a big difference - it should help at least. But it won't do anything to impact the fact that our DL doesn't seem capable of doing ANYTHING against their sad-ass OL.
You have to give the opponent credit for 3 straight, but everyone suddenly conceding that Cincinnati is superior is ridiculous. They're going to have to beat KC convincingly, without relying on flukery and major help from the refs, before I would concede that. This game was well in control before the fumble. And they were incredibly lucky to have that INT nullified, along with 3-4 more back-breaking calls.
Sure, they won in the trenches. That's happened a MILLION TIMES in the Mahomes era. When Mahomes went 14-1 in 2020, it was seemingly happening on a weekly basis, yet they were clearly the class of the AFC. [Reply]
