Media Center>Bands you wish everyone else knew about.

Every once in awhile someone somewhere will turn me onto a new band or group I hadnt heard of. Might be something older like Nat King Cole that you woldnt ever think you would like or something from your childhood that you just dont remember like Social Distortion that you have a new found respect for or a new band that you had to go find everything they had ever done.

Mine would be The Drowning Men, they were signed by Borstal Beat records after touring with Flogging Molly (BB is FMs label) the wife and I have seen them numerous times and its always a great show.

My personal favorite song is "Rita". Enjoy

Im hoping to find some more good groups from this thread!

Arden Park Roots
This band is from Arden Park California. They are a 4 piece reggae rock band who has a pretty unique sound. They're very good at walking the line between reggae and hard rock. They have 4 CDs out and have toured across the country a few times. The singer has a great rock voice, the rest of the band is very tight. Love the bass lines.

* The singer (Dave Vanian) and guitarist in the glasses (Captain Sensible) are the only originals still in the band.
Last time I was in Austin, I bought Machine Gun Ettiqute on vinyl at Waterloo records.

Was just turned on to the funniest shit I have ever heard in my life.

Totally NSW Country/Honky Tonk at it's finest. :-)

Poppier than I tend to go, but something about these guys just draws me in. They just dropped their second album in this incarnation, but their first album in its entirety is above.

DIIV, but I realize it's not for everyone or even a general crowd.

Loved their first album, Oshin. I need to listen to their newer one more probably.

Also love Beach House for that whole dream pop thing.
