Nzoner's Game Room>More evidence that Chiefsplanet is "different" when it comes to the Chiefs...
htismaqe 11:17 AM 01-16-2019
There's something about being "hardcore", we've always known it I guess. When things are bad with the team, this place can be almost unbearable for sure. But is it really always that CP is just more "negative" than the average fan?

I was listening to 810 this morning, especially them talking with Brooke Pryor from the Star. I seems to me that a slight (or maybe higher) majority here not only like the Patriots matchup and think they can win but WANT the Patriots matchup - you know, the old adage "to be the best, you have to beat the best".

From listening to the radio this morning (granted, it was only a couple of hours) it sure sounded to me like nobody wanted them to face the Patriots. The tone seemed more about the easiest path to the Super Bowl and being somewhat intimidated by the thought of facing Tom Brady.

For me, I see both sides of it. They are a dynastic team. He is one of the greatest QBs every - arguably the greatest. But really when it come down to it, does it matter? Nobody thought they could beat the Colts or the Curse. And yet they did.

The Chiefs are going to win this Sunday. Mark it down. And when they do, NOBODY will be able to say "but it was the Chargers. You didn't have to play the Patriots".

It's time for a new dynasty! It starts THIS SUNDAY!

We all know that the Chiefs D has sucked for the last few years, and that last week's game *could* be an anomaly. Having said that, every single one of our losses was effectively a coin flip at the end of the game. No team has come close to thoroughly beating us, and why should this Pats team that we have moved the ball at will against lately be any different? Even if the awful Sutton D returns, this game is at worst a coin flip. The Pats screwed up and we got HFA. It matters.

Cutting Ron Parker suggests to me that the Chiefs now believe he was a huge problem.

We definitely need to iron out our offense from the 2nd half of the Colts game. Not sure what happened there but we need to keep those drives alive and come away with more points.

It doesn't matter who we play.

If we are on our game, no one can beat us.

This team probably would have gone 15-1 if Ward had replaced Scandrick prior to the Pats game.

Scandrick lost three games this year. Pats, Rams, Chargers.

Anytime I’m at a gathering with CPers it’s noticeable that the Chiefs or even general NFL discussion is on another level. In most of my life it feels like when I’m talking Chiefs I am trying more to keep it surface, politely nod at primitive or bad takes, and not come off like a know-it-all. “Chiefs defense is bad, but their offense is good! Mahomes is exciting!” I know that it’s me who is weird. Their interest in the Chiefs is healthy and balanced. I’m borderline obsessed. But it’s sometimes really refreshing to talk Chiefs with others who are weird like me.

The defense was really only bad this year and last. This was a top 5 scoring defense 3 years in a row (and 7th in a 4th). If Mahomes had that defense, we'd be 17-0.

:-) You are being very nice.
I am not sure I posted it or not, but I ran into a lady wearing a Chiefs jacket and jersey in the hospital lobby recently and she came up to me all concerned about the Chiefs QB getting a broken leg.

Lots of bandwagon fans and that is great.

This team has already lifted a big load off of me that has been building up for many years. It is such a great feeling.

Let me put it this way:

I have all this "fan baggage" built up from 30 years of frustration and failure. Patrick Mahomes walked up to me after the game last week and said "may I take your bags, sir?"

It feels like THAT.

I remember last year after the Titans loss that I was talking to my brother (a Chiefs fan...although relatively new) and a Raiders fan at an indoor soccer game where I coach. I told them both that Mahomes would take us farther than Smith did in his first year starting. I got SO MUCH shit for that. Neither one of them want to admit it now.

If the Saints win, I could take some solace in the fact that I really like Drew Brees.

If the Rams win, I'll hope their plane crashes heading back to LA. Ideally it lands right in the Mississippi river and they all die within sight of the arch (and I don't even like the city of St. Louis - I just enjoy irony).

So that makes my preferred opponent easy - gimme the team that I can at least take a little comfort in losing to if the worst should come to pass. The Rams...man, fuck them.

The Bills', Bengals', Browns' and Lions' fanbases are the ones that say honestly they've had the shittier experience in fandom compared to KC.

Give me the Saints. Atlanta Falcons fans will happily poison their food or pull fire alarms at the hotels, etc.

Lets. Fucking. Go!!

If you're going to the game, hope you are absolutely ready to scream and yell your ass off. 3rd down 1st Colts possession I thought I was going to throw up I was yelling so vigorously. Need that all game Sunday.

I got in one of those 5-6 row shouting matches with a guy sitting down a bit from me during the Bills game last year while calling for Mahomes. He said all the same stupid Truefan shit "you want to give up on Smith and go back to going 6 and 10?" and other such banal nonsense. "Wear the other jersey, enjoy what we have, learn the game..." Blah blah blah blah.

I told him Mahomes was the only shot we had to advance that year and that when we dominate with him under center next season, I've had these seats for 10 years - he'll know where to find me.

I was there with my father in law and maybe a little wary about making an ass of myself with him around but ultimately I just didn't give a shit, this guy was a fuckrag and I was going to let him know it. A couple weeks ago my FIL said to me "Yeah, I remember that Bills game...you were damn sure right. That guy ever come back this year?"

No. No he has not. Because uninformed truefans are also feckless pussies. It chaps my ass that I have to let them on the bandwagon and pretend like I value them in any way. Sure - it's fun to see the city happy, but at least half of them are welcome to kiss my ass.
