Very happy for Jared Bednar. Extremely underrated. Really challenged the core of this team to work as hard on defense as they do on offense over the last couple years, and it paid off. They absolutely shut Tampa down in the 3rd. Hope he finally gets the credit he deserves, he's one of the best in the league. [Reply]

Yeah and they answered the bell several times this postseason... Frankie's 4-0 shutout was probably the biggest one prior to tonight, and of course beating the Lightning at their own game tops it all.
Any offense-first team has to prove they can win in the playoffs, and especially deep in the playoffs where you simply have to score 5 on 5 and have some grit and win grinding 2-1/3-2 types of games.
They won those games against the Blues, they won the 8-6 insanity types of games against the Oilers, and beat the best team in the league over the past few years at scoring a couple goals and holding a lead.
Sakic never panicked either, just plugged in some holes along the way that ended up making a huge difference when they needed the depth. [Reply]

Jared Bednar has won the ECHL, AHL and NHL championship. He's the first to do it.
I'm so happy for EJ. He's been one of my favorite guys for years, but I thought he was probably done after last season. So awesome to see him hoist the cup after all these years. [Reply]

Yeah, there was little doubt who Landeskog was going to pass it to first after getting his moment with the Cup. Love the tradition of keeping the Cup for a day or three each and all of the pics and stories that come out of its trip.
Pretty crazy to think for the first half of my life, sports kind of sucked across the board, then the next decade was the Avalanche 2001 Cup and KU's 2008 NC (and a couple Final Fours)... then another 6 years and bam, 2014/2015 Royals, 4 straight AFCCGs and a SB win, and now a KU NC and Avalanche Cup in a matter of 3 months.
