Saccopoo Memorial Draft Forum>Are there (right now) only about a dozen players the Chiefs could take in the 1st?
Direckshun 02:35 PM 01-31-2023
Assuming the Chiefs are drafting in the first, here are the players I would say are possible choices for the Chiefs' pick at 31, or even trading up a few spots. (Don't be mad about that number, the Dolphins forfeited a pick at #21, giving the Chiefs the 31st pick.)

WR Jordan Addison, USC
WR Rashee Rice, SMU
OT Broderick Jones, Georgia
OT Anton Harrison, Oklahoma
OT Darnell Wright, Tennessee
DT Gervin Dexter, Florida
DT Bryan Bresee, Clemson
DE Isaiah Foskey, Notre Dame
DE Andre Carter II, Army
DE Tyree Wilson, Texas Tech
DE BJ Ojulari, LSU
S Antonio Johnson, Texas A&M

Are there other players you'd put in there? That's what I have right now.

I struggle with adding other names to that list that are (a.) good fits for the Chiefs, and (b.) remotely realistic.

Thoughts?

The big DT from Michigan.

Other than that, you seem to be pretty close here. I'd love to have Anton Harrison at RT>

Mazi Smith? Good player will be interesting to see if his arrest drops him in the draft

There's going to be like a million WRs in that conversation for first round pick

What about that huge RT from Ohio State? Where is he projected?

Here's a round-up of Chief selections from mocks around the web:

https://eatdrinkandsleepfootball.com...s-city-chiefs/

Names include:

-Luke Musgrave, TE, Oregon State
-Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma
-Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame
-Nolan Smith, EDGE, Georgia
-Siaki Ika, IDL, Baylor
-Josh Downs, WR, North Carolina
-Will McDonald IV, EDGE, Iowa State
-Matthew Bergeron, OT, Syracuse

I think WR Zay Flowers (Boston College) is another possibility.

Musgrave is an unathletic tight end. I don’t understand why he’s getting mocked in the 1st round.

Smith is 6’3, 230 lbs. guy is not a Spags DE. The same could be said for McDonald, but I’m more flexible on him if we take him in the 2nd.

Ika, I could be talked into if he tests well at the Combine. I don’t think he’s 1st round value though.

Yeah, he's one of the most athletically gifted guys in the draft.

I’m sorry but Mazi Smith on this line with these personalities, especially if they bring Frank Clark back, would fit like a glove.

As it is now, Clark’s going to be gone and we’re going to need an offensive tackle or an edge rusher.

I think you're missing a few names...

WR Zay Flowers
WR Jaylin Hyatt
DL Tuli Tuipuloto
DT Siaki Ika
OT Dawand Jones
OT Anton Harrison

...to name a few.

I think Clark will be back I have my opinion on that but that's for another thread. Smith paired with Jones & Karlaftis would be nasty

BJ Ojulari is so fucking overrated. Give me Derick Hall all day every day over that chump.

I don't think Wright is a first-round pick. I think he could be a 2nd rounder to a running team.

Tyree Wilson is probably going in the top half of the 1st as is Addison.

Otherwise put Couch's list with yours and add Josh Downs and I think it's getting closer.

I think Zay is repetitive on this team, if we have Toney, MVS, and Moore under contract, and I'd rate Hardman as more likely than not to return. What this team needs is some bigger bodies at WR, either bringing JuJu back or bringing in someone of his ilk.

Hyatt is not first round value, I don't think. We could sure use him, though.

I've already spoke to Ika, and I have Harrison in the OP. But Tuipuloto is more of a 3-4 DE. He does not fit on this defense at DE; we already have Karlaftis.

I haven't looked at Dawand Jones too closely, yet. Same with Josh Downs.
