Nzoner's Game Room>Harrison Butker
TLO 11:41 PM 11-06-2022
I'm not the type to overreact, but Butker is starting to worry me a bit.

He needs to be money in games like this one, and he wasn't.

yep, I have no confidence in him at all. Every time he kicks I'm holding my breath.

I think we all hold our breath when he gets out there. Unless his ankle isn't right, his ONLY problem exists between his own ears. But for a kicker that's HUGE.

How is it that I trust Buttkicker more with a 50yd field goal than an extra point? It's got to be mental...

This week, up 20-0, Butker has impure thoughts and he shanks another. Jags immediately have life and a momentum shift was really palpable. They go down and score. And thankfully they **** up the FG attempt to close the half after Fortson’s gaffe.

Jags come out after half and use 9 full minutes of 3rd Q to shank a FG.

I don’t think there’s any doubt a missed PAT is a huge momentum shift within a game.

Rain Man! This could be a great data driven study for a guy like you.
I mean, it pisses us off because its makeable. But is it really a momentum shift?

You lose out on 1 pt. We still get 6. And we get to kick it off the same as if we made it.

Contrast that with a fg miss. You get 0 points. Which can be a dick kicker after a long drive. You gift the other team outstanding field position. And a fg kicker who misses all the time means the offense puts extra pressure on themselves to convert every third down.

If butker gets back to being automatic on Fgs but iffy on PATs without a doubt that is really no big deal

Id really like it if in huge games he didnt leave 4+points on the field.

This. If it were any other kicker he'd be searching for a new employer!

Probs.

Still would rather have 80% of him than 100% of the street trash FA kickers available.

Yep. Sucks, but is what it is.

Could be a psychological result of the injury as well.

You've got to have 100% faith in that plant foot at all times. Sustaining that sort of injury could have given him some PTSD.

Ankle injuries take forever to heel. If you are not 100% on your plant foot, that's a mother fucker to deal with.

For sure.

So we can complain about him, but 1/ Do you have a better replacement? and 2/ Does this really make you worry about him for, say, next year?

The answer to both seems clearly 'no.' So we rol lwith what we have and hope he can get better through the balance of the season.
