KSU thinks we're intimidated with **** KU chants. Just wait till they step into Allen Fieldhouse. [Reply]

How can a player that committed to Missouri State within a year, turn into what Self called recently the best guard in America? Why did other teams and coaches not see what he has become? [Reply]

Best guard in America is probably a stretch, but he’s improved a lot in his time at KU too. And scorers are obviously going to stand out more than the Harris types.
Mason was a much bigger surprise to me. He was clearly a good talent from day one, and yet he was committed to Towson before committing to KU. [Reply]

Mason and Graham were headed to App State and Towson. Self has a knack for this. [Reply]

Davonte Graham was the same type of story. Self is just that great of a coach.
I wouldn't call Harris the best guard in the country. But one could make a case for best point guard. [Reply]

Self coached teams, especially his teams that are not stacked with 4 & 5 Star Players, often get beat by teams that are substantially more athletic, even if that team doesn't have any stand out stars.
Oklahoma State has beaten Self several times just because they were more athletic, although they did have a star or two in a couple of those games.
We have lost to unranked teams in the preseason who were just more athletic.
We got run in the tournament a couple of times by teams that were more athletic.
But in almost all of those games, we had the better players, and almost certainly a better head coach and coaching staff.
So, just thinking that a team isn't the same caliber is just naive at best, and arrogantly ignorant at worst.
