Media Center>Older Movies That Are Forgotten
Holladay 03:16 AM 03-08-2025
Hate to say, in another thread about Peaky Blinders, Blacklist thread, both of which are a great series, but I get tired after a few views. Thus I needed a break.

So I surfed Netflix and found "Awakenings". One of the better Robin Williams obscure films. Not a fan of Robert De Niro, but a good flick from 1992.

I watched it a long time ago. Glad I found it again. I like historical films and a feel good or bad story.

Recommended.

What other hidden gems are out there...

We all have our preferences. This is a generic, not niche classic ala Rocky Horror Picture Show nor Monty Pythons stuff nor Casablanca.

I've always been a fan of Pump Up The Volume starring a young Christian Slater

Its a very underrated coming of age movie, I never see it on tv or hear anyone talk about it

Although the original Major League aged really well too.
And we can't forget the cheesy goodness that was Terminal Velocity!

Silent Running is my all-time favorite movie. Mom took me to see it in the theater when I was 6.

Every guy in my middle school class wanted Kristy Swanson including me.

Yeah, me either. I remember starting to watch it once, and then losing interest and flipping to something else.

Anyhow, after I made him watch Rad I remembered this movie and searched far and wide for a way to stream it. Nothing! Couldn't find it anywhere on any service, even to buy/rent. So....I had him watch 3-4 scenes from Youtube like this one just to give him the idea. If you know where to find it, let me know!
Bruh, the whole thing is on Youtube.

We might need a 'no woke movie thread'.

Fantastic movie. It will certainly never be forgotten by me. I think that was the first movie I ever saw that was completely bereft of good guys. The villain was more likeable than the hero. And I was good with that! Great cast, great performances, twists at the end I certainly didn't see coming. And the car chase is still the best I've ever seen in any movie.
