The kicking position is the best it has ever been. We have seen generational talent after generational talent put balls through the uprights in the past few seasons. With the retirements of Adam Vinateri and Stephen Gostkowski, a new crop of kickers has a time to shine in the NFL. Here are the best ones.
1. Justin Tucker - Baltimore Ravens
Tucker has been a monster for the Baltimore Ravens for his entire career. He is a virtual lock for the hall of fame, which is very rare for a placekicker. But that's the type of talent that Tucker possesses. Tucker has an all-time accuracy of 91.1%, which makes him the most accurate kicker in NFL history. He also has made two kicks over 60 yards.
2. Harrison Butker - Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs veteran was originally signed to fill in for the injured Cairo Santos but did so good that he became the franchise kicker for the Chiefs. Butker has hit 90.1% of his kicks making him the 2nd most accurate kicker in NFL history. He has many field goals over 50 yards and is the only kicker to do so multiple times in the same Super Bowl.

Good luck with that shit.
Not saying he should be cut, but as of right now would you feel confident in Butker to kick the game winning FG in the playoffs if it’s over 30 yards? [Reply]

Yes as much as anyone not named Tucker doing so, but if it’s a meaningless PAT, I’m worried. [Reply]

But yeah I agree… for THIS SEASON we may have to think of a plan B if he continues to struggle.
What do you think the offseason will do to cure the mental problems he has? [Reply]
The grass isn’t always greener. Unless we forget that most teams in the league are riding kickers like cairos santos or Greg Joseph. Or guys who struggle to kick in the weather. Or kickers who can barely kick a 50 let alone have range for 60+. Or guys who are average or worst at clutch kicking.
Butker checks all these boxes when he’s on. He is literally a top 5 kicker. And we think we’re going to easily replace him? With who? An unproven drafted stud like Cade York who’s been an utter disaster? Or maybe an average veteran like succop.
This place sometimes…. Jump out of a window when all you need to do is take the stairs [Reply]
We have a kicker who’s never kicked less than 89%, has not missed a costly playoff kick and has drilled many game winners in his career, can kick in cold weather, and can boom the ball 60+. Just a reminder of how dominant this guy has been for us. And he’s still young. He’s twenty-fucking-seven. He’s got 10+ years in him.
And in one half season where he’s playing hurt we want to flat out get rid of him? I can’t even believe people sometimes.
If he comes back to form and very likely he will getting rid of him will be one of the stupidest decisions we’ve ever made as a franchise. That really the gamble anyone wants to take? [Reply]

Nah. Let him get healthy, then see how he is. i mean, most teams do that for regular players, not sure why we wouldn't for Butker, who's been as good as it gets until he got hurt this season. [Reply]
