My daughter was on the web last night and suddenly WinPatrol popped up with a warning and Windows popped up that spyware was on the puter. It appears that a new system32 file was installed and it will not allow me to run spybot or download other antispyware tools. It also will not allow me to run a system restore previous to the time we were infected. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions? [Reply]
Thanks for the help. I forgot about hijack this. I'll try it when I get home. Gonzo, if I wanted a new one I would but I want to try to save this one smarty pants. :-) [Reply]
One way that you can sometimes cheat and get out of situations like that is to use system restore. It's under Start: Programs: Accessories. Go back a day or two, then run all of your anti-spyware stuff after the restore. Most of the time, that'll take care of it. [Reply]

I attempted to do that but it wouldn't let me click on any other date or time other than oct 13 9:41. [Reply]
