Nzoner's Game Room>Space Exploration megathread
DaFace 09:40 AM 06-01-2014
Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

Did any of y'all happen to see Dragon's return in the night sky? Must have been pretty impressive.

Just streaked across the sky in Tulsa at about 9:55pm. Looks like something re-entering the atmosphere. Pretty neat! #okwx pic.twitter.com/ntTAONhSx0

I wish they would have published the descent track. Would have been pretty cool to see!

:-)

Starliner delayed again.

Boeing has found two new issues via the latest review.

1) Parachute System - soft links (made of fabric) load limit data wasn't correct and restest showed failure at a loading point.

2) Wire harnesses covered in tape. The tape is now determined to be… https://t.co/UaJJ2JXDhB

Golden hour at Starbase, Boca Chica, Texas. Every Friday evening I enjoy an Old Fashioned (or three) and dinner at SpaceX.

That's pretty sweet, man. You live in the area, I assume?

Yessir--we moved down to the Rio Grande Valley from Austin last year, when she started working at Starbase. About 25 minutes from SpaceX, and 30 minutes from South Padre Island.

Left Starbase last night and had to briefly vacate Highway 4 to accommodate a couple oversized loads that looked familiar...

Starbase never stops. Prepping for static fire soon, and hopefully another orbital test launch in the near future.

Ship 25 completed a flight-like chill and spin of the Raptor engine pumps, stopping just before engine ignition. As a result of the test, cryogenic liquid oxygen formed a visible cloud beneath the ship. This checked out vital systems in advance of the upcoming static fire. pic.twitter.com/1rMOqlf5qM
