Can Bobby Witt Jr become a superstar SS or will go to the hot corner? Will Brady Singer take the next step forward? Will Salvy be Salvy? Will Big Vin or Pratto take first base? Will they find a position for MJ? Who else emerges from the youth movement? Not to mention the development of the new downtown stadium.

We have really good exit velos

And Matheny is gone. I was promised that once he was fired this would turn around. And we are seeing the fruits of this move

The #Royals are calling up Maikel Garcia, per source. The club’s No. 3 prospect (per MLB Pipeline) will be in Kansas City tonight. Nicky Lopez is going on the IL with appendicitis.

And more moves could be coming later today, according to a source.

Look for Nick Wittgren to be called up from Omaha later today since May 1 was opt out day for veterans on minor league deals.

It would be great if Garcia can force the Royals hand and stay up.

Rooker OPS 1.044 with 28 jacks in AAA last year. But when we had the choice to keep him or ROH, we kept the big doofus. Then committed to 1.4M for him. Then DFA him anyway

JJ Picolo = confused man

Oh no.

Rooker was in the Royals system last year? Oof - that one stings.

That's really the kind of guy they need to stumble onto every now and then if they want to be competitive. Rooker's not a young guy, but he's cheap and has power. And he seems to have a decent eye.

At worst he's a guy who's value you build and then deal at the deadline for an arm.

He'll get exposed soon enough and I'd be surprised if he ended with an OPS over .800. He's a dead pull hitter with holes in his swing so the league will adjust.

But man, the Royals just waived him after they traded for him? That's bizarre. Just looking at his stats, he should've had an option left. That time with the Twins was in September - they wouldn't have optioned him back down and you don't use one to purchase a contract.

So he'd have used an option in 2021 and 2022 - he almost has to have an option left. And rather than just option him down, the Royals waived him to clear a 40 man slot for...who?

That's just lousy asset management.

I don't really care to do the research but you KNOW there's some scrub they added to the 40 before he needed to be protected in late august/september so they could call him up for 'a taste of the big leagues' and in so doing created a 40 man crunch that was wholly self-inflicted.

And even at THAT there are a half dozen guys on your 40 man that really don't have value to speak of. Like, who the hell is Collin Snider?

Side note: Jackson Kowar is 26 already? Yikes - that's probably not gonna go as planned.

Rocker was acquired for a backup catcher. He put up a whopping -.2 WAR and was pretty awful. He was a turd that even San Diego wanted to get rid of. Pure ass luck He is hitting in Oakland. It's mainly just Prison Bitch being his normal self.

He managed a 1.200 OPS in AAA after being acquired by KC; 1.044 on the season. He had a .931 OPS in AAA in 2021 and .933 OPS in 2019 in AAA (no minor league season in 2020).

I mean the guy has a prolonged track record of drawing walks and hitting with power in the high minors. I can't say that is sufficient to override 29 big league PAs with KC last year.

If he were out of options and you had to designate him to get him down to AAA, okay - I can understand that one. But the guy had options left - all you needed to do was send him down if he couldn't have earned his way onto the team out of camp.

I just don't understand why you DFA him in November.

Who's the better SS between Garcia and BWJ? It will be interesting to see where Garcia plays.
