Chiefs prez Mark Donovan, when asked this AM about potential new stadium options, said the team has considered options in state of Kansas. They like Arrowhead and legacy of Lamar Hunt’s stadium, but have been pitched by Kansas developers on a bunch of options. Something to watch.

They also need to put in a area with shops and food options like many of the NFL and MLB stadiums have now.
For example look at Arizona Cardinals stadium and having Westgate district next to it.
The stadium, parking and ALL of Westgate take up about 475 acres of space. If you look at a map the lot that Arrowhead and Kauffman are on is about 450-500 acres and could easily be built up in the model of a area LIKE AZ Cards stadium. Hotels, Shopping, food, movies all kinds of entertainment.
Yup, but it's never going to happen if the government owns it. You have to sell it. Look at the Bears, the Oakland A's, etc they each know that its more than just a stadium. They need land to develop. And it would double the worth of the franchise over night. [Reply]

It would make a lot more sense to borrow from Thoroughbred Horse Racing and build a facility where they secretly create new athletes from proven performers. [Reply]

Those stadiums have been there for decades and no businesses have migrated there and that's even with the Royals having 81 games there. They sure as shit aren't going to invest in that area for at most 13 games at Arrowhead. It just makes no sense financially for any businesses to go there. [Reply]

A new stadium would likely include a retractable roof of some kind and much of the entertainment areas could be developed with things like skywalks or tunnels to shield from the weather. Other northern cities have done it. [Reply]

If the Clarks need to make money entertaining people that bad, it would be more practical to build a server farm and ship out virtual reality headsets. And just entertain people like, all the time. [Reply]
Missouri sucks at keeping their NFL Franchises, might as well give Kansas a shot. Put it near the speedway, and make it a dome for Mahomes to throw the ball in. [Reply]

Considered is past tense. Meaning this has already been dismissed.
This was nothing more than due diligence, to begin with anyway. There is 0 chance that any top-tier professional team wants to be in Kansas. Missouri even realizes this is all just posturing with no substance. [Reply]

Why do you say no pro team wants to be in Kansas if it is in the metro? We are not talking about the stadium being built in Salina. [Reply]
