Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

Had lunch with Veach today. He asked me to assure all of CP that Quinn and Brown WILL both be playing for the Chiefs this season. :-)

From @NFLTotalAccess: The #Chiefs and LT Orlando Brown are not close on a long-term deal with under three days left to do one. If no deal is reached before Friday, I wouldn’t expect Brown for the start of training camp and Week 1 isn’t a certainty, either. pic.twitter.com/XNT6CAwYKF

Welp. That's really not ideal. Hope he doesn't fuck both himself and us over by sitting out for a period of the season.

Also, accidentally thumbed down your post, Showtime.

I think he'll play on the tag. He costs himself a ton of cash and good will if he sits out games. He won't report for camp but I bet he'll be there for week 1.

One would think he'd need to be somewhere close to the best LT in the league before he demanded to be paid like it. :-)

He's a good player and hopefully they come to terms, but he's kidding himself if he thinks he's even in the top 3 LTs in the league at this time. Somewhere in the top 10 (4-6ish sounds about right) for sure, but that's all I could say with confidence.

OT Orlando Brown, Chiefs not close to extension ahead of Friday deadline for franchise-tagged players; camp holdout expected and "even Week 1" is in question, per @MikeGarafolohttps://t.co/z8WgfI4yHr pic.twitter.com/Zb1AGGjFhs

Every year there are deals that go from not close to done by the deadline.

Wouldn't freak out yet.

But freaking out is more fun!

More seriously, it appears Brown might really be over valuing himself?

:-)

Hard to tell if it is posturing or he's serious but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is serious that he thinks he is a top 3 LT which means he should be the highest paid at least briefly when he signs.

Which means:

No contract, he gets tagged.

Or a contract that KC way overpays and/or Brown is disgruntled about being way underpaid...

...so FREAKOUT TIME!!!
