I saw this topic on another message board and thought it would be fun to share some little known restaurants in Chiefs Country. I realize some of you never stop to eat when traveling since road kill is plentiful, but if you do please share.
The mini-hamburgers similar to White Castle have so much onion cooked in them that anyone from the area knows when you visit as the smell of your clothes will give you away. Story is the restaurant decided to get a new grill. Customers complained that the hamburgers were not as good cooked on the new grill, since the grill wasn't seasoned as well. So the owners went out to the landfill and recovered the original grill. If you cannot make through Kansas, you at least want to read some the stories.
The only BBQ joint that I prefer the pulled pork over brisket, because their unique BBQ sauce goes with pork so well. If nothing else, buy their sauce online, and purchase some pulled pork at a local eatery and serve with Roy's sauce.
Never been to Philly, but imagine these Philly Cheese Sandwiches are as good. Never tried the hamburger, but the photos look great.

Glad you mentioned Cozy Burger OP good stuff just don't ask for cheese you maybe asked to leave they hold their own as a slider and a bag of them in your car down the road the smell will last for days but you can't eat enough of them better than a trip to White Castle.
On a burger note in my neck of the woods I grew up small hick town of Hanston Kansas is Bruce's Country Kitchen. a little bar with a pool table and fooze ball table ask Evy for a double bacon cheese er grease burger and fries. She cuts the fries thick cut and the burger will clot your arteries :-) [Reply]

Also there used to be a BBQ joint several years ago called Perry Fosters i think it was in knob noster. Your shoes would stick to the carpet but holy shit the food was A1.
You have to go to the 40 highway location, that's the best one. [Reply]
Man, forgot all about Cozy, I figured they would have been out of business by now. Went there often when I lived in Salina (99-2000). Nothing beats a mess of Cozy burgers.
We went to Roy's just last month while at the state fair.
Nothing better than little hole in the wall joints like these. [Reply]

I went to BBQ in Knob Knoster. I remember roaches crawling on the tabletop. That is a true dive, but the BBQ was pretty good. [Reply]
