Leaked audio of Baldwin talking to the props guy after this happened:

That's what I was wondering. If it was not a live round but was a blank, to hit two people would require two shots. And if it did involve two shots, the odds are much higher Baldwin would have been taken into custody.

The infuriating thing about this is that Baldwin will not learn his lesson but will bloviate about how guns are so dangerous that even a trained professional such as himself who is surrounded by other trained professionals unfortunately caused someone's death. And then a whole bunch of actors will surround each other and stroke each others' egos telling themselves that they work in a tremendously dangerous profession that is truly important and they communicate truth to power so the whole world better shut up and listen to them.

We don't know, it's equally feasible that the gun in question had some iffy mechanicals, and whatever charge was in it just discharged a broken piece, even just a sliver, with enough velocity to cause considerable soft tissue damage.

I don't get the comments conflating this accident with Baldwin's politics and general ass-holery.

As of now, this appears to be an unfortunate accident on the set. I don't see how Baldwin's anti-gun beliefs really come into play. And why would he need to "learn a lesson"? I mean, if he's already anti-gun then accidentally shooting and killing an innocent woman isn't likely to make him change his stance, is it?

Eh, I don't agree with it, but I get it. He's very vocal, and very anti-gun, so there's at least a little irony in the whole thing.

But this almost certainly isn't his fault outside of the very fringe scenario where he did it on purpose. If anything, it will likely strengthen his anti-gun stance and likely make him an advocate for eliminating real guns on sets entirely.

The level of incompetence here is impressive in a dark humor sort of way.

That article seems to be just speculating based on the word "projectile".

I suppose it's ironic in the same way that someone who opposes drunk driving getting run over by a drunk driver is ironic.

FWIW, I disagree whole-heartedly with Baldwin's stance on the second amendment. I mean, if he intentionally shot these people that would be one thing, but this seems like a tragedy that would confirm (for him at least) what he already believes.

Avoiding the unions is the whole reason they leave California to make movies. For low-budget it's probably their only option.

If they're driving a company truck, teamsters get paid from the moment they walk out their front door to the moment they get back home. Must be pretty sweet.

My friend is a production manager for commercials. We bumped into a head teamster that works on a lot of her shoots one night at a restaurant. You could just tell by every bit of body language in the interaction that he was essentially her boss, even though technically she was his boss. Dude even had a gold chain and black turtleneck, looking like a mob boss, with the attitude to match. He knew he was the shit.

There are several outlets reporting it was a live round at this point. I mean it's the media, so they could all be FOS, but it's out there from several sources.

Imagine being handed an authentic firearm and not inspecting it. As mentioned above here, the level of incompetence is impressive around the table on this one.

I've always figured his character in Glengarry Glen Ross is probably a nicer guy than Baldwin in real life.

It would be worth knowing if they were just standing around off scene fucking around with the gun or if he was indeed in scene staring down a camera for a shot after being handed the gun by whatever cheap flunky he hired so he didn't have to pay union wages. In one case it's all on him, in the other he may have been in a lighting situation where he wasn't even able to see there were people down range after being handed a prepared weapon by a "professional" who was paid to be in total control of the weapon prep.

There's really no way to avoid the gun and union stance in this pile of hypocrisy.

I vote he's a dumb fuck all the way around and they should just go ahead and film a real hanging scene for the movie.
