This signing also goes a long way in telling fans to calm the fuck down.

There are still going to be good players cut from teams and the Chiefs have the means to acquire some if they so choose. This is a great move for a number of reasons, but it also shows you how the NFL is more of a game of 3D chess, than it is checkers. Yeah we have holes to fill, but signing Reed allows us to utilize existing talent differently is some situations.

For one thing, it allows them to use Jones at DE, which offers more flexibility in acquiring another DE.

And just like that, suddenly, Veach is good at his job again.

Do they have enough money left to sign Ingram and a veteran LT?
Probably not.

Maybe if they do 2 year deals with lower 2021 cap hits.

With Ingram and Okung, you have guys with extensive injury histories. They can easily afford both on 1-year deals.

Yeah. They still have the Mathieu extension if they want more money.

Spags gonna get his early pass rusher at end regardless of Ingram and it’s going to be awesome. We all know Spags loves having a deep defensive line

No one is gonna sign anything more than a 1 year deal at this point, so allocate funds accordingly.

I'd guess this means Ingram goes elsewhere, which is whatevs.

Draft a developmental DE somewhere early in the draft

I don't think it means anything about Ingram. They could still sign him, they have the money.

But if it were an either/or situation, Reed is definitely the bigger get.
