Nzoner's Game Room>Wentz traded to the Colts
staylor26 10:48 AM 02-18-2021

Philadelphia has agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first, league sources tell @mortreport and me.

The conditional second-rounder in 2022 becomes a first-rounder if Wentz plays 75 percent of the snaps or 70 percent and the team makes the playoffs. https://t.co/quAYwcz7bd

It’s risky. But Indy had boatloads of cap space and reason to believe they can fix him.
It's not the cap hit, it's the draft picks. They have to hope he plays well.

I have my doubts.

The South is gonna be fun between Indy and Tennessee. Those are the teams next year.

I don’t know if both make the playoffs.

That’s a lot to give unless he ends up being good again.
They’d better hope they can fix him then. Because they’re either going to give up a 1st if he sucks but doesn’t get injured....or they’ll have to cut bait and bench him if he’s horrible.

It's a steal for the Eagles.

Other caveat is I don’t know how much Indy is going to improve their roster around him anyways with all that cap room.

They have several key cogs who are lined up for major extensions, including Quenten Nelson and Darius Leonard.

If Carson Wentz’s playtime is at or above 75% next season, the conditional 2022 second-round pick would become a first-round pick, per sources. The second-round pick also.could become a first if Wentz plays at least 70 percent of the plays and the Colts go to the playoffs.

If Wentz were to re-enter the draft, what team would spend a first round pick on him? Much less spend additional picks on top of that to trade up to get him? I guess the Colts.

How long before the Eagles realize that Jalen Hurts isn't the guy either?

The Colts OL is pretty great and he gets to reunite with Reich so if he can't succeed there then he's probably never going to be able to recapture that old magic.

Worst case if he flames out, Indy is only giving up a third round pick this year and a second round pick next year... that’s not a bad risk given the potential upside.

Outstanding trade and I think this will pay off for Ballard big time. Philly was too much of a shithole for Wentz and it broke him mentally to see his team win with Foles after he got hurt.

The guy is going to a great organization with a damn good supporting cast and far better coaching.

Doug Pederson fell apart the minute Frank Reich left that franchise.

No. It's a 1 if it's above 75 percent play time or it's a 1 if it's 70 and a playoff berth.
