I think we can narrow our potential free agent signings this off-season to guys coming off rookie deals in the 24,25,26 year old range, based on the past few years
Marcus Davenport seems like a buy low and get some value kind of signing right? I know he had a really bad year this year, but New Orleans was just in a weird spot this year.

He had 9 sacks in 21.
What kind of deal would that take?
Injury record is concerning but yeah I've banged this drum for awhile Pretty consistent pressure, no real weaknesses and you could possibly get him cheaper this year after a down year in production. A risk but if the price is reasonable, a worthwhile one imo. [Reply]
Some guys I'd like us to be in the conversation with.
Dalvin Tomlinson - DI - Almost certainly a pipe-dream as I suspect he'll cost too much, but he's disruptive and would be pure chaos alongside Jones. He's not a perfect fit and he'd possibly do more to free up those snaps Jones goes to DE, without forcing Karlaftis inside, but he's OK against the run, enough to not be a liability.
Marcus Davenport - DE - - As above and we may also be priced out, but his injury history and a down year on sacks makes me wonder if this would be the year to get him. IMO the best all-round DE in this FA class when healthy. He's not the pure speed guy I think we need but he does everything well, has good win and pressure rates, good against the run. If a team gets him cheap and healthy I could see a steal, but there's the rub, would he be a broke-d**k?
Melvin Ingram - I think I rated him more highly than others here, but he is still a great rotational DE at 1,000 years old, IMO. He's chasing the money but he's probably not getting a ton, so he could be a reasonable option still.
Charles Omenihu - DE - As others have said he's a good not great, young-ish DE, who also has the body type to be a versatile piece. Not sure what his value is but I'd like us to find out
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo - DE - I THINK he's up in FA, but maybe I've imagined it. If so I've no idea why he's not more touted. Pure stuational pass-rusher but getting increasing snaps, I think he'd be great here.
Chris Wormley - DI - Has been really solid at DI, particularly against the run, for a million years. No idea of his cost but feels like an under-the-radar guy who could be picked up for a reasonable amount.
Sheldon Rankins - DI - Again, solid all-rounder, but might get a decent pay check so might be beyond us.
Kelvin Beachum - OT - Could be a cheap upgrade at RT if other options don't pan out.
Jacobi Meyers - WR - Kinda depends what happens with JJSS, but I think he does everything Juju does and more. He could end up getting a decent contract but again he feels like an under-rated guy, with limited physical attributes that could be got cheaper, or at least cheaper than JJSS. Great hands, routes etc.
Other people have mentioned Dillard for example, who I think is absolutely worth a shot. There's guys I like that I think are really not an option - Pollard etc. Then there's guys I like but not in positions of huge need - Germaine Pratt at LB, maybe Chauncey Gardner-Johnson at safety.
Guys I'm just not in on at all are the Ferrell reclamation project and Ngakoue. [Reply]

Why would you not be in on the only under 30 pass rusher that consistently puts up double digit sack seasons? Or the highly touted first rounder that didn't work out for a shitty franchise who won't cost you shit? They both seem like slam dunks to me. [Reply]

Ferrell just looks like a straight bust to me, I don't see any obvious production so I sort of feel like the cost is irrelevant. On Ngakoue it's because he's good at getting sacks from a not particularly decent number of pressures. Is that important, sure, but I don't know if he's going to be that cheap and if it comes with being useless against the run and pretty hot and cold rushing, I'm not fussed. [Reply]

Holy crap they’re $19 million in the hole. I think that’s probably very likely and I’d love to get him [Reply]
Samson Ebukam is another DE I'd be interested in as a mid-tier signing. He was productive for the 49ers in a role and had a nice pass rush win rate. [Reply]

I'm hesitant to take guys from a unit like that. So many other guys around him, makes him look alot better. [Reply]

He's a little speedier DE type that had success working about solo blocks on the edge. He'd fill a similar role in KC.
Yeah wouldn't hate that at all. Can kind of see o's point but he seems an upgrade and I can't believe he's gonna cost the earth. [Reply]
