Patteeu Memorial Political Forum>Biden’s ‘Infrastructure’ Bill Contains Backdoor ‘Kill Switch’ For Cars
BucEyedPea 02:41 PM 11-29-2021
Buried deep within the massive infrastructure legislation recently signed by President Joe Biden is a little-noticed “safety” measure that will take effect in five years. Marketed to Congress as a benign tool to help prevent drunk driving, the measure will mandate that automobile manufacturers build into every car what amounts to a “vehicle kill switch.”...

The lack of ultimate control over one’s vehicle presents numerous and extremely serious safety issues; issues that should have been obvious to Members of Congress before they voted on the measure...

Adding what amounts to a mandatory, backdoor government “kill switch” to cars is not only a violation of our constitutional rights, but an affront to what is — or used to be — an essential element of our national character. Unless this regulatory mandate is not quickly removed or defanged by way of an appropriations rider preventing its implementation, the freedom of the open road that individual car ownership brought to the American Dream, will be but another vague memory of an era no longer to be enjoyed by future generations.

They wouldn't do that, you say, because it would be a crime?

Is there some reason that using kill switches to disable cars so they can't be used to drive to a protest can not be a crime too?
You were claiming there was no practical difference between a spike strip and a kill switch. I showed that claim is just wrong. Also there is a big difference between executing pro-lifers and preventing them from assembling so your last point is pretty shaky too.

I am not saying cars shouldn't have these kill switches. I haven't formed a strong opinion one way or another. When I do a lot of that opinion is going to based on how much I trust the current government and the future government.

I'll be honest....my trust in the state to do the right thing is waning and it might not be a good idea to give them any more power than they already have....still these switches could have a lot of utility. For instance you could set up a virtual fence around a parade route and people participating in the parade would be protected from BLM'ers driving them over and slaughtering them.

Cops carry guns, right? Are those not subject to misuse? In more deadly ways?

You can trust a cop with a gun, but not an automobile kill switch?

WTF?
I mean hell we might as well put kill switches in every citizens brain. That way if anyone is about to commit any crime we can just shut them down. You’re on to something here. I mean yeah we can use force or handcuffs or spikes but why not stop them dead in their tracks and render them disabled?

That same person now knows all they have to do is use their car to cause the dime piece driving home alone to appear unusual and panicked to the super dumb computer monitoring her and he now has a fresh piece of meat sitting on the side of the road alone in a deactivated car.

A window breaker and 2 minutes of struggle and someone's daughter doesn't come home from college. Meanwhile the cops wander around her car sitting on the side of the road for hours while she's being transported to destination strung out and fucked.

At the end of the day:

If you can trust a cop with a gun, which obviously can be misused in devastating ways, then you can trust a cop with a kill switch for cars.

If you're worried about misuse, then misuse can be a crime, just like shooting someone can be a crime.

It's ok for a cop to end a high speed chase by making the fleeing suspect crash, but it's not ok for a cop to end a high speed chase with a device that shuts the car's engine off.

Why?

Let's be real, anyone who is that determined to commit rape is going to do so with or without kill switches in cars.

No shit.

I'm hearing no actual reasons to be against this, other than:

1. It will cost money; and,

2. Gubment will use it to read our brain waves!

Right?
I don't care what high and mighty purpose you want to assign to it, the government does not need more power over the population. Period.

I prefer 9er's daughter to at least have the ability to flee, even if in a panic, plowing curbs, mail boxes, and whatever else she needs to run over to get away.

Apparently, he doesn't.

A cop with a gun wields far more power than a cop with a kill switch.

Even a novice rapist would simply snatch her ass out of some secluded place. An alley, a park, etc. Rape has been common throughout human history.

The state has already proven itself to be unwanting or incapable of not abusing the powers it already has, including cops with guns. Why do you want to give them another one that will be abused?

Even Patteeu eventually came around to the powers granted to the government through the patriot act were a bad idea due to government abuse of them.

Sorry, what's your argument?

Are you saying that cops will use this device to rape young women?

Or are you saying that the device will just be available to the general public, including rapists?
