Yep. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are in great shape with the cap and will add a bunch more draft picks next season. They're better than those teams even in this "rebuilding" year, and they're far better positioned for the future. [Reply]
We traded Hill for -> McDuffie, Skyy Moore, Joshua Williams, Darren Kinnard (from trading down the 2nd) and next year's 4th and 6th round picks.
I'd say the Chiefs did pretty good. All four players drafted this year made the team. Two of them are legitimate studs. And we have them at cheap deals for the next four years.
The trade made the Chiefs a deeper more complete roster with more talent to add in next year's draft. [Reply]

This doesn't even account for the cap space and flexibility going forward. [Reply]

Even though they still have Jaylon Ferguson on a rookie deal.

Because you can structure a contract anyway you want to depending on what works best for your team. We likely would have taken a bigger cap hit this year and less next year if he resigned with us. His cap hit wouldn't be just 6 mil this year like it is with the dolphins, and it wouldn't be 31 mil next year. It would be smoothed out some. [Reply]

I think it made sense. We all get it.
Depth and such is how you win in the regular season. Come playoff time, we may need that one difference maker, but you have to hope your difference making QB makes up for it. [Reply]
