Nzoner's Game Room>Orlando Brown Projected Contract 6 year $145 mil
dlphg9 08:17 PM 03-28-2022
So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.

That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL

How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?

I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave.

No news is no news. In this very thread, the vote was not in favor of making him the highest paid LT in the business. If it turns out we pay him, we pay him. If it turns out we don't, we don't. He has the tag option of 16.5 million as a backup plan for one year if he doesn't like what Veech offers.

I'm no huge fan of OBJ, but the guy would have a lot of suitors outside of KC given his age, pedigree, and experience. I don't anticipate he'll hold out but I wouldn't be shocked if he bet on himself to play on the tag and got a monster contract outside of KC next season.

And he's absolutely a guy who I think plays with pride that would keep himself in shape regardless of whether he holds out, plays on a prove-it tag, or signs a long-term deal.

I suspect OBJ overvalues his talent and leverage and Veach doesn't bend. And ultimately he plays on the tag.
He’s on a non exclusive tag, so he’s able to negotiate with any NFL team right now in hopes of a trade and sign and those teams can let him know his market value if he were to hit the open market by their offers.

I’ve said all along that it’s very possible Orlando ends up playing on the tag and returns to Baltimore if they end up cutting Staley after 2022…I think the most probable outcome is a 3 year deal so he’s able to hit free agency again with increased cap amount while still being young enough to cash in. Like Chris Jones.

It's weird. With other franchised players we've heard in the last week about them either going back to the negotiating table or that the team will make them play on the tag. Haven't heard a single thing regarding Orlando.

Chiefs really don't ever leak stuff before it happens.

Eric Eager makes me mad but even Matt Derrick who loves the idea of trading for Quinn (which requires a OBJr contract) is negative right now. I dunno. I feel less positive about this working out.

Trading for Quinn doesn't require us signing OBJ. We have enough room to sign him as is.

Then why do all the insiders keep saying Quinn will need a new contract

If that's the case then we absolutely shouldn't trade for him.

Yeah I mean even Matt Derrick who is gaga over this trade idea is saying "nobody will take Quinn on his current contract" which is a change from what he has said on 810 in the past. Clearly something on that contract is a sticking point and he's changed his tune.

Jeff Allen is available for the contract reveal cookies. Goodell finds another revenue stream!

If he is dead set on a number you don't want to go to, tag him and let him play on the tag. If we're here again next year, tag him and trade him.
