So there's an article on NFL network saying that Orlando Brown is expected to sign for 6 years $145 mil.
That comes to $24.16 mil/yr and makes him the highest paid offensive lineman in football. It also would give him the 19th highest salary per year in the NFL
How would you feel if that is the contract he ended up signing?
I'm fine with it. He is a top 5 LT and he's only 26 next season. A young great LT is a guy you can't let leave. [Reply]

I'm no huge fan of OBJ, but the guy would have a lot of suitors outside of KC given his age, pedigree, and experience. I don't anticipate he'll hold out but I wouldn't be shocked if he bet on himself to play on the tag and got a monster contract outside of KC next season.
And he's absolutely a guy who I think plays with pride that would keep himself in shape regardless of whether he holds out, plays on a prove-it tag, or signs a long-term deal.
I suspect OBJ overvalues his talent and leverage and Veach doesn't bend. And ultimately he plays on the tag.
If he bets on himself and plays well enough to get that top 5 contract that we'll either give it to him as he will deserve it or we'll get a monster haul in a trade.
I'm thinking/hoping that's what Veach will do and the rest will be up to OBJ. [Reply]

Eh, when I make a dumb mistake like that usually it's because I re-word the sentence a couple different times until I decide on something I want. I probably over-dragged the cursor and deleted the verb I still thought was present.
Having the same OBJ conversation with the same people in the same thread isn't very exciting. [Reply]
