Weird, arbitrary start date.

They did a decent job acquiring pitching talent early on (2007-2010 or so), especially if you include international signings like Herrera and Ventura, then struggled when the draft format changed and the hard slots went into place, and only recently came out of it with the college-heavy approach.

If you’re saying you have to go all the way back 14 years to find a single pitcher worth a shit that DM drafted.....seems like we are saying the same thing.

A) The Padres were in a pennant race and making a trade for a reliever who was having an outstanding season. It's not like they traded him for nothing.
B) We just want to see what Olivares can do. He was tearing it up in AAA, but for some reason they refuse to give him any meaningful opportunity in an offense that is woefully underperforming.

Kowar was originally slated to start tonight, but now it says TBD. Any idea what's going on there?

Mock draft
7th pick.
Kumar Rocker, RHP, Vanderbilt

One of the few things that people around the industry seem to agree on is that Kansas City is likely to take Rocker if he gets here, and right now, he's seen as likely to get here. The Royals were on Rocker back to his high school days, and he fits their recent preference for major conference college arms. They're on House as well, and I'd imagine they would take a long look at Lawlar or Watson if either got this far

And used Fangraphs WAR so Aaron Crow wouldn't be included.

O'Hearn is tearing up AAA as well, nobody wants him up here. If Olivares was worth a shit he would have been up here. He hasn't done much of anything when has been up in the bigs.

Honestly our best lineup coming up and I hate to say but Whit needs to move back to the outfield and while Benni is out needs to be in left field.

C - Salvy
1B - Santana
2B - Lopez
SS - Mondi
3B - Gutierrez
LF - Whit
CF - Taylor/Dyson platoon
RF - Dozier
DH - Soler

When Benni comes back off the IL:
C - Salvy
1B - Santana
2B - Lopez
SS - Mondi
3B - Dozier
LF - Benni
CF - Taylor/Dyson platoon
RF - Whit
DH - Soler

Play the matchup game with Alberto when needed.

Batting Order
1 - Whit (RF)
2 - Santana (1B)
3 - Benni (LF)
4 - Salvy (C)
5 - Mondi (SS)
6 - Soler (DH)
7 - Dozier (3B)
8 - Taylor/Dyson (CF)
9 - Lopez (2B)

And another completely shit take.

O'Hearn has a -1.6 WAR over the last 4 years, 200+ games, 700+ PA's

Olivares has 38 games and 125 PA's in 2 years. No one knows if he's worth a shit or not. I'd say say he has a better chance of being good of being good than most of our other prospects based on the fact that he wasn't developed in our system.
